Oh, I forgot, even some of the Dems are concerned about the plans for Obama's big speech. They are concerned it will remind the TV audience of the Nuremberg Rally, and I think they're correct. He should give it in the convention hall to avoid any negative connotations. There is something to this.

So, Woody, Juan, Lost Arrow. Let's talk about important things for a change. What do you think of the candidates' and parties' positions on the environment? The economy? Health care? The economy? Foreign policy? The economy? Education? The economy? Erosion of civil liberties?

Your suggestion that Obama is "Hitler like" in any real sense of the word is abominable. Even in the absurd rhetoric of U.S. politics, neither party or candidate deserves that. The Republican (Cheney) certainly shows some of the characteristics of fascism - corporatism, suppression of civil liberties, authoritarianism, erosion of division of powers, importation of quasi-religious 'values' into politics, racism, fomenting intolerance - but the U.S. is strong enough to survive that. Cheney may be a calculating menace, but he's no fascist.

Suggesting that any modern U.S. political party or politician is "Hitler like" dishonours the memory of the many who died and sacrificed to stop Nazi Germany, fascist Italy, and imperial Japan. And in the case of someone like Obama, Nazi Germany had a place for people like him - and it sure as hell wasn't on the podium as leader of a major political party.

A suggestion.

Mr. Batten would it be possible for you to avoid using multiple avatars in the same thread? Thank you.

I exist to serve the rich ruling class, through my suffering and toil. I am happy to be at the bottom of the Pyramid. Some day with luck I will move higher on the Pyramid and look down and laugh at the people below me. But lets face it. Obama is a f*#king Socialist, America was built on Capitalism.

Juan, do you realize what you have just said?

We have finally reached the truth.

The outrageous thing about this is the people promising the "ownership
society" are in fact picking the pockets of the people parading about
hoping for money and power. The oldest con game in the world.

My boy. You have been had.

Hmmm, nobody wants to reflect on what they've previously posted when hammering Bush et al and Tony Snow at his death. I don't know how to pull that stuff up, particularly about Snow; but it would be interesting to review it. I clearly remember terms like Nazi, Fascist used time after time. As a matter of fact, it would probably run to many pages on ST listing old comments from the BDS people.

So now you're offended about this thread which is mild in comparison. Such short memories, conveniently short.

What ever woody.
The same tables will be turned on you next week, and then back again, and back once again, and again, and again.

Glad a friend steered me in the right direction of less ST.

Complete mental masturbation on this site.

Running away Uncle Doug? I guess you remember what some of the past comments were like and prefer not to face up to embarrassing and disgusting statements. I don't blame you.

Ms. Riefenstahl was not a Nazi, although she did do some Nazi propaganda films. Supposedly, Ms. Riefenstahl was also a climber.

It's amazing how strident, desperate and downright weird the right-wingers are getting. This thread is a clear example of it.

Obama will be a great president.

Leni Riefenstahl was something of a mountaineer, and whether or not she was a member of the Nazi party, she was friends with many senior Nazis, generally supported the Hitler regime, and worked with it. She was arrested at the end of World War II for war crimes, but never charged.

She was also probably the leading female cinematographer of the 20th century, at least until 1945, and pioneered many cinematic techniques. She also lived to be 101, and only died in 2003.

The movie "The Wonderful Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl" provides some fascinating insights into her character.

based on personal observations these last eight years, I believe the current president and his cabinet are bumbling, unrepentant. lying. cheating, thieving. hypocritical, imperialist, racist, mass-murdering, war-mongering scum bent upon looting this country of every last penny, profiting on every last resource, dismantling the constitution and depriving me of every last right contained therin.

The fact that exercising one of those rights by posting this in public domain makes me a bit nervous leads me to believe there is some basis to my opinion.

Mr Obama may be all the things his detractors claim him to be and worse. He is. after all, a politician, and therefore, by default, in league with the above mentioned. But if given (the illusion of) a choice, I will exercise my (however illusory or irrelevant) right to cast a vote for what i perceive to be the lesser evil.

At the very least, it will take Mr Obama eight years to equal the havoc wreaked by his predecessors. And, if not a relief, then, at least those years may be a reprieve.

This is my verbose, run-on, redundant, grammatically incorrect opinion (and my paragraphs for the day!). I won't defend or debate it. I reserve the right to change it at any time. I wish us, everyone, all the very best of luck in the future.
