I wasn't kidding, wasn't trying to be snide or anything.
I was just wondering why you aren't showing your stuff
in a gallery somewhere--I had really meant it as a compliment.
Sorry if you took it that way. . .

SteveW I was funnin' ya. I really did take it as a compliment. And thank you very much. I don't really get much time to do serious art any more. Cartooning is a lot of fun. Being a cartoonist on the other hand is really tough. There are more job positions in the NFL or NASA than as a cartoonist. I have been published a fair amount and won a few awards. But mostly it is just a meditative diversion for me. I am honestly tickled paisly that you like my work though. Cheers philo.
Boy I hope L doesn't take offense. I thought it was purrrfect.

I'd say that painting was inspired by the artist cranking the FA of Christine's Dream 5.12
Kind of a double artistic shot - The Canvas Artist documenting The Rock Artist
Never saw this one Phil, is that Christine's animal spirit waiting to ambush you at the top?

No Scott It is me in my spirit form. My nemisis waiting to destroy my hubris. It is a part of a conceptual self portrait. Me in spirit, me in youth and me in old age.
Here is the old cat part.
ps. have you checked out the poitickles thread?

Philo, how about a crusty old climber looking in the mirror and seeing himself as he used to be. Old fart with new gear looking at former young gun with old gear.....just a thought.

One of my favorites, from "How to be a Hard Man", by K. Koch.
Originally appeared in Climbing magazine, and reproduced in Games Climbers Play.

Philo- your work is awesome! Say, did you happen to do the JRat shirt that picturd Jerry Garcia belaying a skeleton on Separate Reality? I still have it from back in '87!
I wish some one would scan some old Adventures of Hardman comics. Loved that guy.
