hey there ron hahn... say, this photo/slide is lovely... a real beauty... thanks so very much for posting its magic...

say, and thanks to all of you for teaching me about lost arrow, and about john salathe and nelson... and their climb...

*say, and actualy, i know well, fruit diets are very nice... sadly, trouble is as to some of us poorer folks, at times we can't always get fruit, had to do without much of it for a long haul, the last few years...but things are slowly changing...

soon, i hope to buy it whenever i like... write now, for winter, i am mostly getting lentle, and i have two pumpkins, and some oats... but i DID get some good apples free, as the ex son in laws folks came up to pick apples for their work----after there left, there was some extras... this is my joy, now... yum...

well:
thanks for this great "bump" supertopo guys, or i would never have seen these wonderful articles... :)

Years ago, Steck gave me a copy of this photo of Salathe, which I believe was eventually published in Ascent.

Besides the Yosemite climbs described in Chris Jones' article,
John Salathe' also climbed elsewhere:
1947-02 - FA of The Hand, Pinnacles National Monument
1947 - FA of Salathe's Sliver, Pinnacles National Monument
1948-09 - attempt at FA of Castle Rock Spire, Sequoia National Park
1948-10 - attempt at FA of Castle Rock Spire
1950-05 - 2nd ascent of Castle Rock Spire

Robert Summers told me that Salathe' was considered more than just "eccentric" by the climbers in Camp 4 - so somewhat stranger than eccentric.
Obviously a very strong climber, though.
