"It was a less up-tight sort of time......but really its more like an out of control tyrannosaurus in the living "
.....I don't believe Ouch has the indecency to create a cartoon with that imagery!
By the way, boyz....I was walking past an American Apparrel store yesterday afternoon, and they had a front window mannequin sporting solid gold colored tights. If you want to bring back lycra, or just make some period piece photos, there's a starting resource.

One just needs to go into a running store, those boys (and girls) still dress sensibly and wear lycra.

I think Goatboy's "Rock and Ice" cover image is the reason I'm sad to see lycra climbing outfits go out of style.

I remember a study that showed increased muscle performance with extra tight lycra. However, even olympic athletes were reluctant to wear it. Don't know if it was good science, but maybe it could mean the difference between failure and success.

Then also, I heard a story about extreme boulderers who would strip down to lose weight. I'm guessing they weren't down surfing friction problems. Anyway, is it ironic that only lycra tights were the fashion? If someone does promote lycra again, I hope that it will be made with natural, not synthetic polymers. Even better, maybe it will be championed as a re-used material.

It may be too soon for a Lycra comeback....I'm still jonesing for some old school knickers (plus fours) a la Emilio Comici - with modern lightweight materials and sh#t.

Here's an idea to go along with Sushifest...
Swishyfest(TM) Bring your best lycra, chow down on some raw fish, and give'er.
Disclaimer: I ain't no homophobe! My best friend's gay. Just think that lycra stuff is slightly swishy ;)

Isn't it mainly the opinion of women that determines what men wear? If women liked the packaging, would it matter what other men thought? Similar to when women sometimes wear certain outfits.

Are you guys realy sure the ladies liked the lycra look? Or, regular guy fashion....was it that you all were so duly impressed by your....sillhouettes, that you figured the ladies must also have been!? hahaha
I am pretty sure that, back in the 80's, lycra would not have tripped any triggers in me. Maybe, a Flock of Seagulls hairstyle with solid black ones....but definitely not the colorful ones.
A pair of knickers(capris, to the modern guys) though...I do find those sexy.
I saw a recent story in some magazine about a trend in bicycle pants toward a more casual knicker sort of pant....I wish I could remember the ninfo..
Oh wait I found it:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/17/fashion/17Physical.html?ex=1183608000&en=ff29ee1fa24db376&ei=5070
One of the brands(Rapha FixeD shorts at http://www.rapha.cc/index.php?page=169); looked like it could be a pretty good climbing knicker(except it had a sewn-in foam butt pad).
oh...and the price...something like a hundred fifty clams...hahahah. Dont think you all will be going for those.

You know, I used to climb in Spandex in the gym all the time. I never thought of wearing it outdoors. Thanks for the inspiration!
