It might be worth your time to learn how to set the portaledge up before you blast...

and haul,

and suffer,

and wall climb?

I thought graduating meant that you WERE smart enough not to engage in such foolishness.
Oh well, so much for that theory. Best o' luck mate. You say you're a BWC but you're waiting for your portaledge in the mail?
Hmm.
Better make sure you work the bugs out before blockading a trade route.

A less-traveled line might be, and smell, better. Trade routes REEK! El Cap has some wonderful plants growing up there, but not on trade routes. Check the ASCA site for routes with repaired belay bolts.

I hope not to blockade any route. Ron, I like to think of myself as a wall climber, but don't claim to be any superstar. I've done a few walls, just never owned a ledge before. I would sleep hanging in my harness, and hug my haul bag. I didn't want the fact that I couldn't affor a ledge stop me from doing any wall. I'm not too slow as a soloist. I've been stuck behind parties climbing alone... Most routes I've soloed it's been a bit quicker than a party of two, just cuz I keep climbing and don't stop.

funny you mention setting up a portaledge before hand, Handjam Belay. Last one I did I borrowed a friend's and it was interesting setting up that thing for the first time at night at a hanging belay, hahah. I just laughed at myself. All part of the learning experience I guess :-)
