He put together an actual coalition based on a promise not to invade Iraq. So he pushed Saddam back to his border and stopped there. That makes him one hell of a lot smarter than his son. RIP.

So I just read a thoughtful article on vox.com
It rehashed the 8 women who accused bush of groping them, including a 16 year old girl, who was groped 20 years ago.
It also brought up the Anita hill controversy.
I guess it made me rethink my own and the media’s bush love(no pun intended)
It is a part of his legacy

The Bush tree is one of 800 or so big trees in the Freeman Grove, about ten miles north of the Ca Needles. It's the biggest grove outside of a National Park that hasn't been logged.
It's a very cool place to go walk around sometime. Aside from a short handicapped trail to the Bush Tree, and a dirt hiking trail along Freeman Creek, it's totally wild.

Not to demean the life of a significant person in our Country’s history, but the last three years have given me a new appreciation for past Presidents that I didn’t vote for.
Thank you for your service to the United States, President Bush. You were a good man.

He looks good compared to the present occupant of the WH, but Bush ran a blatantly racist ad against Dukakis, made false claims to justify the Gulf War, dropped 8,500 tons of bombs on Iraq and Kuwait with devastating civilian casualties, refused to cooperate with the special counsel re the Iran-Contra affair, escalated the racist war on drugs, and purportedly groped women. I'm tempted to point out that he, too, was human (?!), but mostly I get irritated when we treat the dead as saints. By all means, give them the honor they're due and praise their accomplishments (Bush had some good ones too), but geez...this starts sounding like another flavor of fake news.

Like most people in power, he has a complicated legacy, good and bad.
Nonetheless, R.I.P., and thanks for the good things he did.

no new taxes?
His decision to raise taxes was one of his BEST decisions. He put the good of the country above pandering to crooks. Unlike his incompetent son.
He stopped the invasion of Iraq at the only practical step. Unlike his incompetent son.

I have to quote Werner her "Stoopid Americans".
Does anyone recall that H.W. Bush was director of the CIA during Iran Contra? Of course Ollie North took the fall for much of it,but Bush's hands were covered in blood. The CIA supported the nascent cartels in Mexico, actually helped to create them,to provide money for CIA black opps in Nicaragua and in Iran. The money the CIA generated by allowing specific smugglers clear passage into the US bought guns which were provided to the right-wing Contra death squads in Nicaragua.
Maybe H.W. was a WWII hero, but his heroism ended there. He was an entitled child of a father who sold supplies to the Nazis throughout WWII. He should have been tried for war crimes, but is now being eulogized as a saint.
