Canada's immigration laws are far more selective/strict than ours. Maybe that's why they're not becoming a shithole?

Trumps remarks are no surprise, he is a racist piece of sh#t and always has been. What is shocking is that he thinks Norwegians are lining up to emigrate to the U.S. LOL!!!

Stonefly: besides just riding on the liberal bandwagon, tell us what makes a shithole country.
I'm not seeing much intelligent thought, truth be told.

Stonefly: I thought so, no original thoughts, just name calling and riding the bandwagon.
Disappointing. :(

It seems fair to guess that the government of Norway will put some effort into distancing itself from Mr. Trump's vulgarity, particularly as Prime Minister Solberg met with him on Wednesday. Ms. Solberg is leader of a moderately right wing (by world standards) party, which is therefore somewhat to the left of say the US Democratic Party. But her government probably wants as little association with Mr. Trump as possible. He's pretty much toxic to most politicians (and many others) outside the USA, as evidenced by his staff cancelling his trip to London to open the new USA embassy there. Pretty embarrassing, that your leader is virtually persona non grata in one of your oldest and closest allies.
Mr. Trump probably didn't care that the ancestors of most Norwegian-Americans, just like his ancestors, came to the USA because they were poor - although that has long changed.
The cover of Mr. Trump's home town paper Friday:
As for Ballo, CPorter and JoeM, well, let's just say that they need to work on their street cred as climbers.

Most liberals are incapable of original thought. Except the queen, of course. Try not to disrupt the hive.

Here, here! When you're awash in petro-cash and bathing the planet in North Sea oil you can afford to be a little smug, I suppose.

If I lived in Norway I could afford to go out to eat out about once a month. I would also be fighting an uphill battle with the effects of sun deprivation.

I am disappointed to see no original or persuasive thought in this thread. I see a lot of reference to the presidents color in a derogatory way. I thought the liberal mentality was color blind? Not surprised by many, but one of you I thought was above such unproductive nonsense.
not a trump supporter for the record. My life's not affected by the man that's elected. ( credit to avett bros maybe)

CPorter : Hmmm. More name calling and still no cogent thought. I'm starting to think you liberals are not as smart as you think. It is looking like blind hysteria to me.
Convince me otherwise.

Jstan: has our transition to third world happened because the third world came to us?
No, JoeM, our transition to the third world, or actually second world status, began in the mid 1970s with the dismantling of the New Deal and the assault on labor.
It wasn't secret, you read about it in the business pages. Their idea was that workers made too much money if they could afford to send kids to school and buy houses. No, really, as unbelievable as that is. It really intensified under Reagan. The New Democrats were just as supportive. Bill Clinton fought tooth and nail for NAFTA, but when some of the old school Dems tried to pass the anti-scab Striker Replacement Bill, Clinton was off in Europe, couldn't, or wouldn't, be bothered to help there.
So we continue to descend into shithole status. And don't worry, no matter what the buffoon in the White House might say, third world immigration wil continue. It helps keep wages low.

Gary:
Thank you for that thoughtful and well reasoned response. I can agree that the erosion of the labor(middle) class hastens the erosion of our world standing. Don't we all only have ourselves to blame for that? Our purchasing desiscions drive that trend?
Not to pick on Yvon, only an example, but wouldn't greater good be realized buy manufacturing his goods domestically with union labor? Or, like most corporations, is PG only interested in removing the most $ from the middle class as possible.
Again, only an example.
