What is it like to experience near 130-degree heat in direct sunlight?
The official temperature here Tuesday was 127 degrees Fahrenheit

Two days into winter and it's the hottest day I've had here. Sweating bloody bullets in the shade. Bollocks I say! And did y'all see the Red team play the Blue team? Apparently it was one of the greatest Rugby League matches of all time. to bad I went to be at half time.

At least there are sharks!

Its not muggy here. Thankfully.. 121 today.. 88 now. I try to get my days chores done by 10 AM. When it doesn't get below 85, then you know its going to be a scorcher. Its pretty funny to me when I think 90 is cool, having lived in Yosemite for 25 years and thinking 90 was pretty hot.

Been around 105ish in Moab.
In a few days we are headed to the Arctic Circle and a toe dip in the Beaufort Sea.
Hopefully the heat doesn't follow us.

It's nice here, in The Great Pacific Northwest.

SNOW in Port Townsend at the Point Wilson Lighthouse on the longest day of the year:

At least I think it's snow.

Father's Day camping in Livermore in 107 degree heat, and all the fathers voted to retreat to air conditioning, rather than another day in the lake with the kids. It passed hot enough (for me) when it hit 75.

So Tad

I know you swam out to that rock in the ocean and then free soloed it in bare feet.

Then at the top you did a swan dive back into the ocean and swam back to shore.

What a stud ..... !!!!!!

Sh#t, I missed it. I was standing around, flying a kite.

These gals were watching though. That's all they could talk about for the rest of the day.

It's great what a big, diverse country this is. The heat in the south is sucking cold Canadian air into Montana. Thermo has registered 37 degrees last couple days here near Hyalite canyon. Actually had ice in my sprinkler hose this am!

Right on, Tad!

That Heceta Head Lighthouse has to be the most strikingly beautiful lighthouse anywhere. Most especially now after its recent restoration work.

I struck out again this year at Umpqua River Lighthouse. It's in a bit of a challenging spot for me - with a well-traveled road right in front of it. Nothing I can't overcome though, if I time it right conditions wise. I like that fleabag Winchester Bay Inn. No fridge in the room, but it's right across the street from a good bar with plenty of cold beer there.

The most dangerous and famous of 'em all - Longships Light on Carn Bras, Lands End, Cornwall. The first light was built in 1795. This one is physically almost the same as the 1869 iteration. Seeing it in these conditions, 4 miles vis/15-20kts gusting to 35, was a propos. It has the oddest foghorn I've ever heard.
