Well that sucks...A trip to Oz to see the land of RP's was a highlight of my climbing career...and the carrots as well
Mnay years ago my buddy TC was leading out on an FA in NH..way out and I was a bit gripped , getting ready to hold a monster fall..all of a sudden "Bomber #1 RP !" I relaxed quite a bit then.....run it to the belay

I always carry a 2 on my rack, and sometimes a 1, for free climbing. Incredible gear!

What a great article!
Some shots of early RPs which I bought from a Tucson climber named Josh Toefield long ago and used very carefully. Josh bought them down under on a climbing trip and was generous enough to pass them along.
I still carry the standard issue ones, all shiny and perfect.
