Interesting. Looks like a #4 Lowe tricam was the hand sized piece on the rack of the Amano-Masumoto-Nagato team.
Supercool thread with a ton of badass climbing at altitude. And great photos.

Ryo Masumoto was a real pleasure to deal with. I dropped him a short, simple request for some pics. Within a day I had around 40 terrific pics to choose from. Masumoto is a polite and humble man.

Ian Welsted's detailed account of his ascent with Chris Brazeau was revelatory of the thought processes involved in a long and dangerous climb. Choices we all share to a lesser degree in our climbing. Taking off without bivy gear to do the route in a push was most audacious.
The sheer badassery and inventiveness of the Parnell-Kool team blows my mind. To think to pitch the tent vertically inspires.
Brian Becker's persistence is a legend on it's own merit written in the boldness of the Denali Diamond's line.
