I poached this photo from Allen's mountainproject page. This shot is Allen at 18 with Doug Scott (not the Ogre Doug, but the Gunnison Doug that was with Rosholt on the FA of The Plunge in the Black).
This photo captures the essence of the WSC (Wasted State) that I remember. Allen was definitely one of The Tribe.

Friends, we're going to celebrate Allen's life on Saturday, June 4, at the Wyncoop Brewing Co., 1634 18th St., in downtown Denver, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Please come and share your stories and memories of Allen. If you can't attend and would like to send something to be shared at the celebration, you can send to me or Catherine Hill Lay. (And I hope John Catto doesn't mind that I stole his great photo of Allen!)
