RIP Scott.
Better to die on a trail than on the concrete.
Damn - so sad.

so very sad to hear this.......i was so very very happy to see he was "back to his old feisty self" lately on posts and correspondences;......strong, opinionated, caring yet in-yo-face.........just like the Cosgrove we know and love. We will miss you so! I am happy and honored to have been Scott's friends since he was a teenager. Thanks for the friendship and always telling it like it is...... Rest in peace, my brother.

Wow. My regards and thoughts to his friends and family. "We all will die someday; no way to escape." Well said Clint. Some of us check out sooner than others. Coz seemed too young, like many others. I was riding the chairlift up here in Oregon just @ 2 weeks back or so. Woman riding next to me commented how great it was to have snow this year. I told her "Yeah, my climbing partner bought a pass last year, turned out they were only open 11 days for lack of snow, not the 11 days he could get up though haha. Turned out SHE use to climb back in the day, turns out that she knew Scott and had tied in with him, was still in touch, and told me about his solid progress from the accident, how well he was doing. I didn't get her name.
Small world. Bless you Coz, save a space up there for me.

Stunned.
Yeah he was an ambitious teenager when I first met him in the valley all those crazy years ago, argued with him and invited him to Moab just a few days ago. So sad
Condolences

But in the importance and noise of tomorrow
When the brokers are roaring like beasts on the floor of the Bourse,
And the poor have the sufferings to which they are fairly accustomed,
And each in the cell of himself is almost convinced of his freedom,
A few thousand will think of this day
As one thinks of a day when one did something slightly unusual.
What instruments we have agree
The day of his death was a dark cold day.

Oh no...as Susan said, he had just posted up about his little Chi mix being a great hiking partner.
Does anyone know if his dog was found with him? I would hate to think she is running loose out in the desert.

This is such sad news. Heartfelt condolences to the family and Scott's current circle of close pals. I was so inspired reading his final Facebook posts. A dying breed yes, but never forgotten. Thank you for your bold contributions to the sport, Scott. RIP
