Doghater, there are more appropriate and easier ways to deal with your percieved problems in these areas than ranting about it on the internet. How about just pulling out your trusty 9mm, capping the mutt and hanging its lifeless body on a sign in the parking lot, for all to be warned?

Don't you guys watch 'The Dog Whisperer' ?

There are no bad dogs.
Only bad owners.

Next time poison the owners and set the dog free to run with the coyotes.

Yeah, I've seen the outcome of that one too. Owner dies a quick death from gunshot, dog gets eaten 20 minutes later. Dog comes out worse being hamstrung and torn limb from limb.

Dog Hater, why the hell do you go to one of the bussiest cliffs in Joshua Tree (on the weekend aty that)and then whine because it's crowded, and therre's a dog there, and some hippies were smoking pot, and there were kids, and a ranger showed up? That's what happens at Hemingway Butress. You're like those people that buy a house near LAX then complain about jet noise. Do everyone a favor, sell your gear and start knitting. There are some 20,000 climbing routes in Josh. Most of them you wont see anyone for several days, go there, not Hemigway butress. Now that I've said that, go hold on to your mommy's apron an cry her a river.

I allways bring my dog to the crags. And I bring her to work with me at my climbing gym everyday. But she is a good dog, and she's smarter then your honor's student.

If this sport sucks why are involved in it? its idiots with their pets out at the crag that are detrimental to this sport.

nothing inflames the passions like a good dog troll.

Thanks for the laughs, doghater!

Oh, and I poisoned the breakfast bagel you ate at Crossroads on Sunday. You have 24 hrs to live.

...ummm.... I have to find that news article I spotted earlier today!!!

There was this blind girl out picnicing with her family in Joshua Tree last Friday, and apparently she had told the folks she had to go pee. They offered to go with her, but knew she would refuse. So, they pointed her towards the bathrooms, and off she wne with her seeing eye dog.

That was the last they saw of her.

When she didn't return, they started searching, to no avail. By the time the rangers were informed, it was dark, and so the search could only go so far.

Early this morning, she was found, suffering from exposure, but alive, by a group of climbers. At Hemingway. More than a mile away from where the family had been picnicing.

The people had heard a dog whimpering, and followed the sound. She had wandered amongst the talus and fallen into a thin ravine, about 20 feet down and difficult to climb out of!

One of the climbers set up an anchor and rapped down to help the girl out, and when she got to the top, her faithful dog was waiting was her. She thres her arms around the dog and started crying hysterically, saying how the dog(a Golden Retriever named Geyser, because he was like "Old Faithful," she said) had saved her life.

There was also a comment that she had said all day long Geyser had been crying in distress, but the only person she heard was someone who was ranting like a madman in some sort of Eubonics about "this being his hood and all, and how he'd give a beat down to that mutt."

She begged Geyser to stay quiet, fearing if the person found them, that he might hurt the dog. But Geyser would not stop. The crazy voice became louder and she knew the person was getting near. Then she heard him say "Yo, Dog! I gone stomp yer az!" The girl knew she had to do something, because geyser was such a sweet dog he wouldn't understand his peril. So, she gave the command for a trick to have the dog growl.

Geyser made one low growl, and the person ran off, saying "Oh shizzz! That dog a mean one!"

Oh yeah - I forgot.... On the walk out, they found soiled underwear on the trail, and when Geyser got near, he started growling and pulling toward the garment. Very uncharacteristic of a service dog, they felt certain the poopy pants belonged to the person who had threatened Geyser. Apparently, the dog had literally scared the sh#t out of him.

Spark has not been right since I got him back from tree. He is running around in circles and banging his head into the wall. This might just be a reaction to being around Locker.

I gotta agree and disagree with coiler. True, Hemingway is a zoo on the weekend, but it's become REAL hard to find an area on the weekend that hasn't. Folks who can't lead trad 5.4 out of a snakepit who have no qualms about leaving an entire crag of leadable 5.10-5.11 festooned with top ropes all day. Dogs are the least of the problem. So doghater, you real are because that should of been the least of your gripes. I've seen the future of climbing and it's death by top rope. So yeah, Hemingway is a zoo, but when did that become "the sport" that we decided to partake of?
