Spent a night with my partner Jack Tackle on the level snow shelf in the lower left quadrant of the picture. Snowed two feet and I set off an avalanche that almost took out Jack. Had to rap the North Face....a truly epic descent.

Name the peak....

Hunter.

I've always wanted to post this picture because there is so little mention of it anywhere on the internet. Guilbeau Pass which allows you to cross the Brooks Range from the E Fork of the Chandalar in the south to the Hula Hula drainage to the north, in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Not many people pass through here, but for those who do, and for the ones googling Guilbeau Pass, they can contact me at this place.

Anyway, a shot of the north side of the pass with a lot of snow blowing around:

Another pass is Carter Pass. Not many people pass through there either. It is mellow, but getting to it is a huge multi-day pain in the ass.

Carter Pass, which connects the Junjik drainage to the Marsh Fork drainage:

I only had a little film point and shoot camera, but the foothills of the Brooks Range in the subdued midnight light, were very beautiful:
