'Superbigtoepoe'

Not too very long ago,
Before the gri gri and go-pro,
There lurked in someone's mind,
The seed of Superbigtoepoe,

It weren't a bad idea,
If one seized upon the deal,
But the internet were a virgin,
And had yet no true appeal,

So the insipideration died,
At the the cusp of someone's dream,
And it drifted through the ether,
Lost forever it would seem,

Yet it settled to ignite,
In C-Mack's imagination,
Wernerisms never die,
Despite our indignation,

And the climbers forum thrived,
As trolls would come and go,
In the halls of virtual legends,
Here on Superbigtoepoe.

Thanks Weeg fer the insipideration.

Define superbigtoepro;

1. At big toe which has been broken off in a crack
and is later tied off and used by another climber for protection.

2. A climber who uses only his big toe to climb professionally.

How about a thread for all the quality posters that are still contributing "content".

Been a lot of noise about lost content lately. Some of it from folks who don't really add that much content.

Randisi....you hit on one of the forum's problems. People do care about your insights about China and people do care about Trip Reports.....but....they post mostly about controversial, non climbing subjects that they have strong opinions about. Consequently, the junk stays on the front page and the good stuff disappears.

Be the forum you want to take part in.

I'd like to, but the forum I want to take part in is tolerant of all sorts of topics, not purely climbing.

While some non-climbing threads squeak through, posting in them is like hanging out in the bathroom in high school, smoking a cigarette trying to not get caught.

Only Caldwell focuses on the next pitch of climbing while sitting at a long belay. I'm not Caldwell, my mind wanders. And I think most climbers are the same, smart wandering minds.

From what I see, the forum isn't policed that tightly, and jerks can run amok as jerks for a long time before the Registrars Office catches wind. I was happy to hear that the Registrar gave Ron a pretty thoughtful warning, and Ron still decided to implode.

The forum lives on, but it certainly has a different feel. It's more like slack-lining now.

Randisi, I care about all of them, especially the international ones. I just don't respond. But trust me, at least one person reads and enjoys all the pictures, stories, and every trip report.

I highly enjoy this forum. There is plenty of good stuff to read. The boring or negative is easily skipped over. If there is nothing new or nothing interest me...get this...I simply find something else to do. Shocking, I know.

You know, expectations just never did anyone any favors. So stop with that.

Yes, please.

Who are they?

Well, the lowly Survival has 33 trip reports to his name.

A couple of them barely climbing related, and none world class cutting edge, but there they are. I've posted TR's from at least five states. I've tried to do a good job of showing high country, climbing, varied environments and some story telling, mostly through decent photography.

I have participated in OT threads, but I don't dominate them, or live on them.

I went climbing with The Fet yesterday.

Content, it's so hot right now!

Dudes and dudettes, get out and do something! I'm north of Milan right now, go to Sicily tomorrow night. Trip doesn't revolve around climbing, but I packed my clothes for 10 days into my carry-on laptop bag so my check-in is 2 60m x 8mm ropes, 15 alpine draws, and a rack of doubles to #2 and a #3 and some nuts. Going to kick some ass or get beat trying in San Vito Lo Capo.

In preparation, I'm stuffing myself every meal with awesome homemade Italian food, and mandatory desert and alcohol with and after lunch and dinner.

Nut, how did you like the Lambrusco? When you go to Sicily can you stop by Etna and pick me up a few bottles of wine? Just kidding, but if you can try them out. Etna Rosso and Bianco. Very unique and well made wines.

Oh, and Nutter, don't bother with any reports on the wine that is only kinda unique, ya hear? ;-)

Maybe this is a good place to ask- I read somewhere that you need a letter or permission from an Italian climbing group to hike to the summit of Etna without a guide. Otherwise, you have to stop at some point part way. I was planning to skip it because it will take 3-4 hours maybe to drive there, and no certainty of access. Looks better to check out standing columns from the Greek empire and do some deep water soloing along Zingaro Reserve.

But I will eat as many Canolli as I can and try some Etna red. Non mi piaciono i vini bianchi.

At what point does one become a semi-legend?

The best way to make this better is for everyone who says it sucks to start posting their trip reports about climbing.

Also you can't post something for replies. I've got a thread running for the last month with over 250 photos of travelling and climbing in it and I've only got 15 or so replies. This thread, complaining about the forum sucking now has 55 heh.
