Thanks Fritz. When I put in 2 cars in the reservation on line form it kicked it back. So I just defaulted to 1 figuring I could plead later.
I have to call them anyway because, ahem, I'm eligible for senior discount which I guess can only be arranged by phone.
So anyway if folks are looking for space I obviously have some!

I barely got a spot reserved so don't dither getting the last few available spaces for the long week. Assuming that I can line up partners in SLC for the venture I plan on being out there for the full nine days.
I usually try and do some anchor work while climbing in the City and replace old chain sandwich set ups with something better at the end of the day. Brad Schilling the COR ranger appreciates the help as long as you are in touch with him about the specifics and have his approval to do the work. He also provides the hardware that they want to see left in place.

My recollection is a $5.00 per night fee for the second vehicle in a site, which can be purchased at the crapper area across from Bath Rock.

Probably not. Sailing. He's got some single handed open ocean racing qualifiers at that time.

I'm thinking of getting the same site I had last year until Thursday and then possibly the group site for the last night or so. Steve, did you book a site already? if so, which one? This year I am going to take my time going and coming. That much driving needs to be enjoyed. I am also thinking of going into the Okanagan and visiting Phil G. and then work my way east and then south. All this thinking. Time is a wonderful thing when it is on your side.

How close is the nearest BLM dispersed camping to the get-together site? Looks like I'll have the (old enough?) kids from June 14-28, and my brother lives in Nampa, ID - so it's worth making the drive out from California :)
Edit: Now I'm getting psyched, charting out a road trip to include stops at:
Great Basin Nat'l Park
Bonneville Salt Flats
City of Rocks
Yellowstone (old Faithful)
Sawtooths (Elephant's Perch)
my bro in Nampa, ID
Black Rock Desert
Pyramid Lake
WOOOHOOOOO!

Wayno- I got the second to last available spot in Area 4 so I couldn't be selective about it. I am certainly willing to share but the second car issue may be interesting to plan around so let's keep in touch.

Ron, only no dogs at the group site. If you get your own site it's all good.

Nuts again. There used to be a "dispersed" camping site near Smoky Mountain campground. Supposedly, it is up a road that goes through the Equistrian area of Smoky Mountain. I have never checked it out, but I haven't heard anything about it being closed.
On the WeighmyRack blogsite on City of Rocks, there is a description of another Free Camping place. http://blog.weighmyrack.com/the-low-down-on-climbing-at-city-of-rocks-idaho/
Another "free" area is on Forest Service turf, high above the Breadloaves on a continuation of the road that goes up to campsites 62-64. It's a long, steep, and airy drive to campspots that might well be snow-covered in late June.
Ron, one note on dogs is: park rule require them to be kept on leash.

My brother just booked campsite #1, across the road, for the 20-23rd. This frees up a bit of space early in the week.
PM me for space swap coordination if you need it, early arrival, etc.
Last year the reservations seemed to book up throughout the area in advance, but come down to the middle of the week there was plenty of open campsites.

Masha and I have booked site #3 for Sunday night thru Wednesday night. That is the same site we had last year. We will have extra tent setup space there if anyone needs it (DOG FRIENDLY). Thursday night we are not sure where we will stay, perhaps the groupsite if it thins out.

You can hang at our site, Kev, but since Spider and I moved across the street there should be space and yes, "grandfathered" . I like that word. Who in the hell is going to kick out grampa?

Roger, we can crack a bottle of Marzemino and you can tell me about your Dolomiti trip. Fritz can join in and you guys can compare notes and regale the curious. I'm looking forward.

If it's no trouble, Susan...I'm willing to travel with you guys...I don't have a lot of baggage...It will keep me out of trouble...I will get to give you a belay, perhaps...so please send me a PM.
I will have dollars for gas and camping, too, if I can pitch a tent in your site.
Now I know what's the deal with COR, I wish to return and enjoy it more.
And take more pictures.
