to answer some questions and post a few more pics from the top.we carried striped down packs and spent the night(tent) back near base of route we planned to do a 2 night camp.when getting a permit for the snake dike bivy they allow you nights at the base of the route. We lingered in the morning drinking coffee and going up to the diving board and looking down porcelain wall and at the valley.a very special place one of the greatest views. As for the girl. as we finally hit the trail where you are off rock and into the forest we ran into her friend ,who had gone for help when the clouds came in.he had failed to go far enough and just came back by him self.judging from the urban type black leather shoes and him carrying an half empty quart water bottle.dont know how much help he was going to be.we left them as they headed toward the valley.About the lightning in the cave comments.we have all seen the story of the lightning death in the hd cave but there was no lightning with this.

Nice work!

One time.... a friend and I hiked up that gully to the top of W. Column. Much to the "shegrin"? of the climbers coming off Royal Arches down the trail, shaking their heads.
We had a fire and bivied, looking down the valley, celebrating that place w/ a flask.. Twas awesome. Next day we climbed N. Dome, and hiked out.
It was a good adventure.

Well done! Those pics of the deserted summit and cables remind me of my first trips up them in the early 1960's.
