For the record Ryan D I was responding to scrubbing bubbles. I should have quoted him to prevent misunderstanding. I took your OP to be an attempt to generate some lighthearted banter and nothing more. If there was more to it than that I didn't catch it.

Edit: I can see now how it looked like I was agreeing with scrubbing bubbles though and quoting him probably would not have changed that.

I'm sure you already have picked out your hauling team, BUT if you do decide to bring an extra haul bag, could I tag along and haul it for you? I might even be able to rig something up so I can keep the chalk haul bag next to you as you're climbing. Then you wouldn't even have to wear a chalk bag around your waist, it would make you that much lighter, and increase your chances of onsighting the route.
You have my number. Let me know.

RyanD,

troublemaker.

Bringing up chalk issues like that. Don't you think you should be more concerned about how you'll light the wall adequately once it gets dark? Seeing as how you'll be onsighting, you'll probably need more than normal headlamp light to figure out the sequences.

Oh, my bad. Sorry, in rereading I see that I overlooked where you said you were hoping to finish before dark. I guess that would make night lighting a moot point.

Plus, I guess if you don't blow the crucial decision on chalk type it will make the ascent go so quick you won't need to worry about getting caught in the dark, thus ruining the one day onsight gig.

ok, nevermind. keep us posted on how the one day onsight goes.

how much chalk will be needed? What is the best type for el cap granite? We use flashed around here or BD since that's all there really is,

"Maybe an extra chalkbag?"

I think you should bring extras. That way you will be able to loan them out to the young guns as they pass through......

Henny, thanks for the feedback. Technically it will be a flash. My partner recorded all the live footage and has edited it with VoiceOver notes & installed it on my google glasses so I'll have decent beta for all the route finding and where to poo. The problem is when we zoom in it gets all grainy and we can't tell if the tick marks are there or not.

As for style, obviously oplopanax doesn't know that it's not cool to be seen on el cap with METOLIUS chalk if you are using BD cams. Or anywhere for that matter.

Lol!

(But I don't think we're allowed to say "poo" on this forum.)

I saw on TV that you can stick to the Dawn Wall by putting Krazy Glue on your fingers. That seems like cheating or at least aidering.
