That looks to be an excellent deal. I have no idea what prices are these days but even at $50.00 thats only sixteen days to recapture your investment.*

Makes you almost want to get back on the slopes.

*Gas, oil, taxes and lodging extra.

We all know about lumber, but are there various plastic foams, fibreglass, kevlar and carbon fiber taxes? Aluminum (poles)?

EDIT:

OK double that, 32 days

Thursday am it was -22 deg F at our house (Lander), this am we had a heat wave and it was only -8. 3-4" of snow out of it: very dry Arctic stuff.

Pretty rude. It was 65 degrees on Sunday. We went climbing in the Sinks in Tshirts and shorts. Monday the high was 20 and snowing and went down from there. Welcome to Wyoming.

Report from Anchorage: twenty degrees warmer than normal, until this morning--a little colder now. The 3 inches of snow we got last month is long gone. Hasn't been cold enough to make snow at the resorts. Weirdness.

It was bitter cruel here in the foothills this morning.

Plummeted to 58 when I picked up my boy from basketball last night. Good thing I had a sweater in the car.

In OC, we actually had a good amount of rain on November 1. That same storm left, 3" of snow in the local mountains..not a bad start. It'll be 80 this Sunday though.

Thanks for chiming in fellow sufferers. My apologies to those that thought I was somehow picking on California in my thread title.

I really respect & love California & Californians! Some of my best friends are Californians! Of course I wouldn't want my sister to marry one.

Ekat: Those Grizz tracks are impressive. Hope it goes to sleep for the winter soon.

Raining off the snow here today, then the deep freeze kicks on overnight with a low of 8 f. predicted for Sat. night.

The hard thing about this last storm is that the weather changed so abruptly.
It was 77 degrees in eastern Colorado the day before the storm hit and we were still working in our gardens. I finished planting my last flower bulbs with an inch of snow on my head and shoulders.

The wildlife was caught by surprise also. That's why eKat had a bear on her deck and why my mother in western Colorado surprised one outside the window of her senior housing.

The really weird thing to contemplate is that this storm was provoked by one of the most powerful super typhoons in Japanese history.Since typhoons are super hot and humid, the idea of one of those forcing arctic air south is something I'm still trying to wrap my mind around.

I counted five formations of Canadian geese headed south yesterday while I was shoveling the walks. Obviously humans weren't the only ones surprised by the storm.
