I've met Mark in Santa Barbara when I was visiting UCSB. Turned out we had a mutual climbing partner in Austin, TX so I'd heard lots of stories about him. We had a most enjoyable day of climbing at the San Ysidro crag. Mark was a hardy, no-nonsense climber. Didn't get to climb with him after that but I greatly enjoyed his trip reports and his photography. Climb on, Mark.

And so yet another branch of the sweet mys-tree of life has fallen.

My sincere condolence to his companions still amid the foliage.

Thanks for the Photo Fritz and thanks for the kind words. I hadn't seen this one in his collection. It's hard to believe he is gone and he will be missed by many.
