It made me happy to see Connie's post that funds donated from Tacoids may allow for hiring assistance as early as next week.

The next hurdle, in the funding area,is to make sure we don't have a big hurrah start and then drop the ball as need continues and funds get depleted. It would be a shame to have uncertainty for continued care, for all those involved. I have no idea what could be done to make sure Connie isn't put in a situation of wondering how to pay the help each period, but maybe it is something someone has suggestions on.

Roger Briggs at Boulder Climbing Community has set up a fund for Jeff through that organization. BCC will pass on donations earmarked for Jeff with the advantage that BCC is a 501c3 organization, which should make the donations tax deductible.

Much thanks to Roger and BCC!

Use either the paypal account above or the BCC method and it will directly benefit Jeff.

It is wonderful to see the great response so far; let's keep it up.

Visited Jeff and Connie last evening and it is really inspiring to observe how they carry on with living, despite being dealt a very bad hand.

to keep this bumped and to sate those interested in the trivial...

regarding Rick A's query i found three identifiable climbers [there are a couple other covers that show unidentified climbers]:

tenzing norgay [april 25, 1955]

james mccarthy [oct. 20, 1958]

jeff lowe [dec. 11, 1978]

Bump.

Not many would get this one. Bonnie Prudden was one of the first women climbers. First climb was the Matterhorn on her honeymoon in 1936 and started climbing in the gunks the same year.

Put up Bonnie's Roof in the Gunks with Hans Kraus in 1952. Here she is on the cover in 1957 to raise awareness for physical fitness ( right around Sputnik when we competed in everything with the Soviets) and later spearheaded Kennedy's physical fitness drive along with Kraus.

Kraus was JFK's back doctor.

And leading in the Gunks in 1953 on a bowline on a coil.

Cool photos. I can't wait to rib Jim the next time I see him. Looks to be the epitome of what Patey called"a dangle and whack merchant".

Good job Roger on getting a tax deductible fund set up. I hope they like checks too,

edit; I see they do; on the way tomorrow.

WOW!!! Sorry it took so long to post. Jeff was going to post himself so I was waiting.... but you know how jello is, kinda slippery (referring to real jello pudding here, not Jeff the man - haha). Jeff's hands don't work so well anymore, so typing and writing is difficult and time consuming, so here with our gratitude!

Many thanks to all of you who have donated!! I will not name names, but you know who you are! The fund is growing and the new caregiver starts on Saturday!! With the volunteers and climber turned caregiver we have in place, this will give us help every evening from 7-10pm. This will get Jeff ready and into bed by 10 or 11pm and me able to do the same. This time slot is the toughest for us. I am tired after working and caring for Jeff all day, so it often gets late and we are not having much fun by the time we both close our eyes.

The overnights are a HUGE help. Very expensive to pay for, so we are sticking with volunteers for this for now. If anyone else would like to come and spend the night with us from 10 or 11pm to 6, 7 or 8am... shoot me a note. You do get to sleep - sometimes more than others. Just depends on what kind of night Jeff has, but usually any need is attended to quickly and back to sleep for everyone.

We are VERY grateful for all the support and love. The generosity and kindness blows us away. One of the donors has offered to come and hang with Jeff for an afternoon once a week and his wife is going to cook some meals for us --- music to my ears. I love to cook, but with so little time, it has become a real chore. She was soooo kind, taking all our preferences without batting an eye. This will be a huge help as well.

Another volunteer comes every week for 4-5 hours and just helps me with insurance, bills, taxes, and other life logistics that are overwhelming for me at times. There are Angels around every corner.

Others come to spare me for a few hours at a time when they can and some come and simply visit - which we always enjoy and appreciate. We are so glad to be where so many friends live close by.

We really could not be doing this without the love and support of tacoland, the greater Boulder climbing community and of course our many friends, old and new, near and far.

Our hearts are bursting, our bodies are being restored and our spirits are bouyed up by this tribe. Jeff sends all his love and thanks too. We cannot thank you enough.

Connie and Grateful Jello
