Kentucky (and southeast in general) is the land of milk and honey. And killer climbing, and strong women. Thankfully, the summer is drawing to an end, and the prime conditions are only a month or so away from starting. Though back to the lake for more deep water soloing Monday, so that isn't a bad thing.
A couple more...

I've been in the basement digging through old photo albums. What a trip down memory lane. So many great memories and smiles. And a lot of sighs as well. I dug up these hilarious shots - enjoy.
Climbing indoors as a beginner. Before you say anything, recall that I lived in Houston, Texas - flattest land you can find.
Houston or not, there is climbing in the state. Near Austin Texas I did my very first outdoor lead - a climb called Prototype.
And if one is up for a "little" road trip, Hueco Tanks is only 12 hours away in the car. My only trip there, 1997 as a brand new climber. This is Ostracizer.
Here's an old shot, from 2004 in Potrero Chico on the Outrage wall.

I've gotta get down there this fall... never been to the new or seneca, either!
I'm doing a little 2 week road trip starting next thursday, but we figured it would still be too warm to head south, so we're going to head up towards NH and ME... would go to Canada, but my passport is currently off being renewed, and my bf... well - did you know that if you've got a DUI on your license - even if it's like 15 years old - they won't let you in until you've paid them some fee??

Aya - not been to Seneca?? Oh man are you missing out! It's amazing and the only climbing I miss since moving away from the east coast.

I know!! Can you believe, until last year I hadn't climbed anywhere besides the gunks since moving back to the east coast in 1999. Granted, I also quit climbing around 2000 (grad school will do that to you!) and didn't start again until late 2004!
We were going to tack a couple of Seneca days onto our NC road trip a few months ago, but ended up liking NC too much to do it.

Aya, if you get down around Chatty let me know. There's some stellar climbing at T-Wall and/or Sunset that you might be interested in (seasonal, of course.)

The whole reason I went to NC last April was because T-Wall was closed the week we were down there... it's definitely high on the list...very high, like probably next on the list. My bf tried to get there twice in two months last spring (the second was our NC trip) and the first time, he got snowed out and ended up playing golf the whole time!

Yeah, unfortunately, you can pretty much count April out due to the turkey hunts. I think it was open maybe one full weekend during April last season? The Upper Passes in Suck Creek are not closed, though, and if you're climbing at the grade are certainly worth the trek in. Rumor has it that there's another area that has recently come available (previous access concerns). I'll have to look into that for potential TW closure options...
