The valley must not be worthy.

I would love the background on Bob Skinner's climb.

He was a great friend of mine but never heard the whole story.

Or, just tell me where to look.

He did the 12th ascent of Half Dome, but used the fixed line.

I don't know of any FAs he did in the Valley, but if you have some ideas, I'd be interested.

Ha ha.... Get 'em.

I think "Ron White" may be the same person as Ron Wright.

Reid's "Yosemite Climbs" 1994 Ed. on page 360 lists the FA of "Gidget Goes To Yosemite" as Ron White and Bert Levy. Ron's last name should be corrected to Wright. (Ron is also listed on page 369 for the FA of "Aces and Eights" with John Gregson.)

I believe Muir was the first to reach the top of Sunnyside Bench, in addition to the first to make it to Fern Ledge below the Arrow Chimney and upper Yosemite Fall. I'm not sure about the Ledge Trail.

Correction: "Rikwit Bhatia" should be "Ritwik Bhatia"

Edit: Also glad to see "Vic Tishous" still representing.

What about William Kat of Kat Walk fame? Didn't he do an early route on one of the Three Brothers?

thanks for the corrections!

If we have a topo it's easy to add names...
but any info on routes would be appreciated!

Yes, thanks for the latest corrections.
For Ezra, Lars, James, Nik, Kevin, etc. I have all your names in my list.
So don't worry, we have them.
See my post lower down
It is just a matter of syncing my list with Ed's every so often.

There are many who are and will remain missing from this list simply became they never reported their first ascents.

My current count is about 100 of 3132 routes listed as FA "unknown".

[Edit:] Actually that means 100 routes had "unknown" spelled out in previous guidebooks. In addition:
some routes have FA blank; I am hoping to fill those in
 several routes have "et al"
probably some routes have FA info which is wrong, possibly because the route had already been done, but no trace was left.

many people don't report their FAs
often there is still a historical record of the FA

if there is a historical record, the preference is that that record be correct

if the FA party has no interest in correcting the record that is their choice

if the FA party insists that no historic record be preserved then that can be negotiated

for routes where there is no historic record there is no issue, however, the sign of a route is often left to be discovered, a piton, sling, nut, etc... left behind, or signs of human passage as cleaned cracks and faces, etc. Obviously there is the curiosity of the guidebook author about the "discovered" route.

Kevin,
Yes, we are working on it (2 other people are on the team, too).

And yeah, we should move faster on it.
