dc, I've been wallowing around in the polititard threads as much as many, and to my memory, Chomsky doesn't come up a helluva lot. Leastways, it's pretty rare to see anyone make a comment supporting Obama then quickly follow it up with a Chomsky-ism.

Anyway...I'm not sure I get your point. I respect Chomsky's positions in many areas, and support Obama, but have found myself in profound disagreements with them, too. So what?

OK, that's all I was asking Apogee, thanks. Just trying to understand the logic here. Just seams weird to me that Chomsky does not just disagree with Obama, he clearly does not like him and if anything is disappointed by him on many issues. I don't see how you can love Obama so much and rip on anyone who rips on Obama over anything, but Chomsky can get away with it. If I call Obama an Imperialist, I'm also called a racist. So it seams clear only those on the left can criticize Obama.
There you go Dingus, here is one of the posters I was talking about and you didn't even have to look around.

No, dc, I'm not one of the posters you were seeking, but obviously your need for oversimplified stereotyping has been served. Glad I could help.

Well that worked out well. Can't seam to pin you guys down, man you are slippery SOBs. You were the first to respond to my original comment about this without me saying a single word about you Apogee. But, yeah, you're not one of those posters I'm talking about.

Republicans are sooooo much easier that way, aren't they?

They get into office, and the rest of the Repugs follow behind them in uni-dimensional jackbooted formation. You always know exactly where those guys are at...

Can you please explain how this is a stereotype.
It is clear you love Obama, it is clear you respect Chomsky on certain things.
Why can't I call Obama an Imperialist and not be called racist, brain dead, etc.. but Chomsky can. That is my question? No stereotyping.
Apogee didn't like that I pointed out how clear it is that only the left can criticize Obama without being racist or brain dead. Keep turning it around to fit your needs though. I know exactly what I was asking and so do you.

Q: "Can you please explain how this is a stereotype."

A: "It is clear you love Obama..."

Any other questions?

ok, I'm sorry I should have said "like". Is that better. Lets start playing the nit pick game shall we. The point still stands.
You were one of the main people I was talking about Apogee and I didn't even have to say your name. You came to the defense right away. Anyone with a brain knows you "knew" I was referring to posters like you and now you try and turn it around like this. That's some funny ass sh#t. It has been fun, thanks

DC, I'll write my personal political views, highlighting how I'm not in lock step with the party I usually vote for. It's going have to wait though. Too much else to do today. Hope you're well.

You too Brandon. I know your political views even though I may not agree with them all the time. I do not believe I'm asking a question that is "cornering the baby". Just making the point that it is clear you can criticize Obama if your "not" a Conservative, pretty simple point. Does not mean you are all like that, but I did notice some people here do this.

dc, it's obviously far simpler for you to put people into little black & white boxes than to consider the possibility of shades of gray. There's lots of company for that kind of thinking, that's for sure.

It's a fool's errand to try and discuss anything with someone who can only perceive the world that way. Why even try?

I guess we feel the same way about each other then. Oh well.
I didn't say I didn't understand why you can criticize Obama. I said I don't understand why I can't criticize Obama without being called names? That is a pretty black and white question, is it not? Or does everything have to be gray? But, whatever as usual we didn't get far, at least we kept it civil.
Have great Thanksgiving and all that good stuff.

To your point, dc, while rsin's post is hyperbolic, I'm pretty on board with much of it's sentiments.

"I said I don't understand why I can't criticize Obama without being called names?"

I don't understand why I can't criticize Republicans without being called names, either. Lord knows there's plenty to criticize there.

Guess you gotta have a thick skin about such things.

Anyway...back on topic...sort of...

Ever see the debates between Chomsky & William F Buckley from many years ago?

They are pretty interesting to watch...really puts the tone of our current political discourse into perspective.
