Al-Boredom isn't an issue for me these days. Keeping you estimable folks here and engaged is.

Comici's account of soloing his route on Cima Grande is gripping stuff!

And deserves a very big bump!

Every time there's a new thread about the Eastern Alps, and the Dolomites in particular, I get an uncontrollable big smile on my face. It brings back wonderful memories of Spigolo Jori on the Punta Fiames above Cortina, Demuthkante on the Cima Ovest, and Schleierkante (Scarf Arete) in Cima della Madonna some 50 years ago.

Thanks for posting this, Steve!

If you are smiling then I'm hitting the mark. Scott's Big wall Climbing changed my life when I read it as a young climber and it is always a pleasure to share and revisit this fantastic history.

In 2016 I did the Dulfer and Von Bernuth route on the West Face of the Cima Grande.

The first ascent in 1913, (It's still a V+.) was completed with a hemp or sisal rope, three pitons and two carabiners! Lord knows what they had on their feet.

The boldness and ability of the early climbers in the Eastern Alps was just amazing.
