Gettin' serious about spring planning, digging up the possibilities...
Bump for awesomeness. When sorting all 5.9 climbs in Ed/Clint's Yosemite spreadsheet by pitch length, this one is tied for 3rd place (with NEB HCR and Kor-Beck). Good company!

Bump to say thanks for a great TR. Floor to rim FA in 10 hrs, with no drilled holes from my reading. Fantastic.

I missed this before, great stuff!!
I started an FA up in that area solo, but backed off because I'm a pussy and want a partner there to rescue me if I take a whipper! I keep wanting to get back, but that was over 3 years ago. Maybe next year...
I called it the Overlook area because it has a nice overlook of the valley and it's been overlooked.

Pretty cool, The Fet. Looks like a beautiful area - really like the shot up the watercourse, toward the hanging amphitheater.

Looks like a good day Ed, nice work.
Isn't there already a route named "A walk in the Park" on the Cathedral Apron?
What about "A walk in the Park...too"

Great write up! Thank you for leaving a lot of mystery and adventure about the route.
I especially like this section of your story:
"While it is agreed that route finding is an important skill for a climber, choosing routes with only good topos obviates the need to be able to find your own way. I always enjoy reading and thinking about the "front matter" in climbing guides. Roper addresses the topo issue in the '71 guide in the Introduction under a section titled: "Look What Happened To Climbing". He observes with classic Roper pith that "topos are controversial in that they tend to make climbing a bit easier on the brain." and continues: "Route finding problems are simplified..." Later he observes "...part of the adventure of climbing is removed." (Italics added for emphasis)
I can only imagine what Roper would think about some of the websites, guidebooks and topos today...
Thanks again,
Albert
