When the Ahwahnee pitch and putt course was still in existence, I always wondered if we could set up a tee box at the Jungle. There probably wouldn't be much difference between the white and blue tees, though.

We did manage to lug a driver and several dozen "water balls" to Upper Dinkey Lake one year on a weekend backpacking trip(along with a significant quantity of ethanol products), and proceeded, after proper mental lubrication, with a "Drive The Lake Contest." My apologies to those accross the water. Maybe that's why it's a wilderness area now.

So an avid golf nut is on his honeymoon with his new bride who just happened to be Arnold Palmer's ex lover. This guy is all over the fact that he has married he golf hero's ex. After consummating the marriage he rolls over and reaches for the phone. " What are you doing" she demurely asked. "Calling room service for champagne, we should celebrate" he replied. "Why do you ask" he added. "Well it's nothing really, it's just that Arnie wouldn't do that". Not wanting to appear less the his hero Mr Palmer he asked "what would Arnie do?" "He'd do it again" she said. "OH' he said and rolled back for round two. After that he again rolled towards the phone for room service. "what are you doing" she asked again. He exclaimed "now we should order two bottles", only to hear his blushing bride say "Arnie wouldn't do that, he'd do it again". Sweaty and exhausted after the third round He rolled to the phone yet again. When asked "what are you doing" by his apparently insatiable wife. he said : I'm calling Arnie to find out what's par on this hole.

Sorry all couldn't hellp myself. Now I should go to church.

The golf stuff could have been gotten from The Ahwahnee cuz they had a course over there until the early 70s(?) or say - throughout the 60s . I used to go to the church (chapel) in the valley , and one sunday the pastor's sermon included a little story about how he took some paper airplanes up to Taft Point and there is such a perfect vertical draft coming up the west facing cliff that the planes glided around for severl minutes . His message was something like Yes It's Littering , but there is more to christianity than lock-step followinga bunch of rules (my take) . So a few days later we went up there with a garbage bag full of pre folded planes , and extra paper to boot . First we launched all the planes in the bag at the same time . Looked like a flock of birds circling overhead . Some of the planes drifted straight back from the cliff and came down nearby , some rose very high out in the venturi , and a couple of them went up the valley toward Yosemite Falls . One in particular flew so far out into the valley that you could only see an occasional flash from the wing until it was lost for good . I also threw a 5 dollar bill off , and it blew back up in the air and onto the edge of the cliff .

Never happened, Karl. No visual, anecdotal or other, evidence evidnce, how could that ever have happened, Karl?

That guy in a cave in Spain may or may not want to share some golfing in the ditch beta; events on at least one Ahwanee green, power drives of the rim, etc.

This hole has a pretty good drop and I spanked little whitey like he stole something. From my view I am hitting the green 390 yards away and then the ball starts dropping and I end up 100 yards away at 290, middle of the fairway. So I think before long the ball will be headed straight down vertically, short of the road.

Maybe this will shed some light, 2,700 ft. shot with 1,400 ft. of vertical drop: http://twistedsifter.com/2009/05/the-longest-par-3-in-the-world-900-yards-legend-golf-safari-resort-south-africa/

Par 3.
