Good call Nita. My Class 5 vest (denim on the outside) is from 1974. It still about fits. The 1968 Dynamic skis get out once a year. Some old biners from before, but everything else has hit the bottom of the junk pile. Unless the old LP records count.

I bought Holubar's top-of-the-line sleeping bag for my first trip to Denali
in '71. I wish I had more opportunity to still use it because it is so
freaking warm - unbelievable quality.

Definitely me, but aside from that my 40 year REI fiberfill parka, the zipper is starting to stick, I’m considering returning it for a refund.

I agree with Donini. I am in the constrution biz and it is astouding how fast things wear out. The average car lasts 6 or 7 years.
We go thru 10's of thousands of dolllars worth of equipment every few years.
In the modern world, old sh#t aint worth nothing.
But the body, seems to last a long time.

30-year-old North Face internal frame pack that made it much of the way from Mexico to Canada on the PCT. Twice. Still in service as a cragging pack when I have to carry a ton of shizzle.
28-year-old North Face Ultralight sleeping bag. Rarely in service now.
1978 Bailen climbing helmet. Rarely in service unless my kid is working something really chossy and kicking down stuff on my head.
30 year old Volkswagen GTI. 360K miles. In service daily. I no longer take it on the Benton Crossing jeep tracks. Mostly stick to pavement.
80-year-old house. In service. Really good bones. Framed in virgin redwood, back when a 2x4 was really literally 2x4. Built like a ship.
34-year-old Ascente down jacket. The real bitchen fashion accessory in 1979's senior class. Rarely in service.
50-year-old wife. In continuous service. Built like a ship. Doesn't stick to pavement. Can carry a ton of shizzle.

Plenty of old fixed stem friends from early 80's that still come into use at times as do the old hexes.
But my oldest gear that I still use is my grandfathers Hardy Perfect fly reel 1917 model
Similar to ones shown here,

Love it
Have his cane rod too but I don't use it

Clothing, I got a pair of Combat Pants stamped 1953 that I occasionally wear for heavy yardwork, especially involving the chainsaw. I don't know what they are made of, but they weigh a ton. I tried climbing in them one day, it felt like I was lugging a rack of #5 Camalots around.

The cordalette goes back to the early 1970s and I only use it to maintain the Croll jumar straight.

EBs, Lowe Hummingbird ice tool, ancient ice screws/warthogs, and a big Icelandic wool sweater that my mom knitted for me (and one for my late brother, John) back in the '70s. Wore that thing a ton in the Sierra when wool was still the go-to thing for winter mountain treks.

Ha, Borut - you have to be a Euro. Nobody in America, except maybe a caver, knows what a Croll is.
I used to use a piece of cord or elastic on my Croll, but trust me, dude - buy yourself the C26 Torse chest harness for the Croll. It will change your life, and you will never go back to your beloved prusik, however I am sure you will find another use for it.
The Torse is adjustable and cheap, the best twenty bucks you will ever spend. Or you can just make yourself one with a couple buckles and some webbing.
I've got several rigid Friends on my rack from the late 70's or early 80's that I still use. I even replaced the slings!

I still have, and very infrequently use, Chouinard pitons from the late 1960's, but the oldest outdoor gear I still use is a Kelty A4, and a Primus stove I bought in 1967.

I have an old pair of Elan alpine skis (with mis-matched serial numbers) that I got cheap at a ski swap in Denver 22 years ago.
Also got a pair of Tua skis that I take on tour.
I mounted Voile cable bindings. They were going to be my rock skis, but they were so awesome they they became my primary skis.
As far as old stuff that I no longer use... I have a ton of my old retired gear from the 1970s... Original sets of Friends, tons of pitons, old Chouinard carabiners, stoppers, hexentrics, Galibier double boots, old ice axes, old ice screws, JB helmets, rock shoes, wall hammocks, Forest ice tools, Svea 123 stoves, the original MSR XGK, etc.
...Nobody in America, except maybe a caver, knows what a Croll is...
I know what a Croll is...

I recently retired a couple pairs of patagonia boxers that I had since high school. They were 14-15 years old. Not sure if thats a good thing or not
