nothing is in in Tahoe. its barely been below 25 degrees thus far. looks like by the end of the year some stuff might come in but I personally hope it's all buried under feet of snow.

loving the pics and conditions, thx guys!
also, good tip on the lodging Dean. Location is prime. Do they know that ice climbers spread their gear everywhere to dry it out at night? :)

Stewart, I heard there is a place in tahoe with bolted mixed routes. Do you know of a place like that and mind sharing what that place is, if you do?

There is a spot above Highway 89 across from the entrance to Alpine Meadows it's called the Bearpen we go there after work and do some laps
Only one bolted route and a couple of top ropes

Thank you Mr. Johnson. Looks fun, I love top roping! Would be cool if some good ice formed in that area as well. I have heard of awesome ice climbing by kirkwood but never had the opportunity to go when things were good. Would be a cool trip to link those two places up...email me if you hear it is good please!

Vitaliy, what I lack in ice experience I gain in Kirkwood experience ;)
I know of a few spots there and am up there just about every weekend skiing. I'll keep an eye out on a couple spots. I'll just need you to rope gun me in return ;) haha
Cragman if you need a belayer / partner I'm there! I can't get my girlfriend (my usual climbing partner) stoked on ice climbing haha

From a friend by text yesterday:
"Went to LV today, it's slushy, not good for leading, no good screw placements, it was drippy, massive ice chunks came off the main wall. The approach has just enough snow to be a pain. "
He's relatively new to ice climbing, but the info on the main wall/approach isn't exciting.

That guy has the wrong attitude. Snow on the approach is another awesome and fun opportunity to sharpen the ninja skills for the big mountains. Embrace it.

Now boys, be nice. Let the love of rock and ice unite you.
My experience is that cold really sits in that canyon (lee vining) relative to some of the surrounding area. At least there is that. I'm just going to watch the link below and pray, otherwise it's frozen fingers at pine creek most likely. Saw a couple recent pics of lv, ice looks thinnnnnnn.

Come on, cold snap!
I remember waking up to minus 7 at the power plant one fine winter day. Careful what you wish for.
