What a sad couple of years. So many wonderful souls leaving us. I wonder what is the big occasion up there that needs them all?
Hugs,

I didn't catch this last year and never knew Paul or Ruth but this makes me very sad. I know two younger women right now with very serious cancers. Neither is likely to live very long. My heart goes out to all whose friends and who personally are suffering with these frightening diseases.
My congratulations and admiration go out to the two Santa Cruz women I know personally who've fought it off. (yes you Susan, and another younger friend).
Oddly enough most of the people I know right now are women, 1 man. Your courage is an inspiration.

Angela and i met Ruth and Paul in IC. Paul was already very weak from his cancer but wanted to fulfill a longtime dream of climbing Super Crack. I put up the rope and then belayed Paul on an effort that could only be described as heroic. He was very weak and had to rest after every move but he simply would not give up. It took him well over an hour but it was a very gratifying moment when i lowered an exhausted but elated Paul to the ground.
I was truly shocked when i heard that Ruth died from the same disease 16 months later. I believe she was cancer free when we met and for her to contract the same, fairly rare, disease stretches credulity.

hey there say, yllw2lip ...
nice to see you again... hugs and prayers at this hard time of
remembrance...
god bless...
Thank you for the hugs and prayers. The anniversary of Ruth's passing isn't far away, and I am feeling the wave of grief washing over me already... This sucks. She was an angel. Still is, I am sure.

Donini, I remember Paul telling me that story (in that highly animated way he had about him. So intense!) And I would be so happy to have someone write about that and send me pictures. Would you be able to send me a detailed re-cap and some pictures? My email is yllw2lip@yahoo.com And I welcome anyone to send me stories about their memories of Paul and Ruth. Two amazing spirits and two beautiful souls. Guess they were meant to be together forever, in life and in death. May God rest their souls.

Gym went to Shelf Road with us this past week. He kinda was on the down low. I think he's still recovering from that fun shark encounter. Hawaii trip coming up and I'm sure he'll be back to his normal self. He says hello and wishes everyone well.
He's also working on his pilots license.

I really didn't know either Ruth or Paul well, only met in the last year or so of their lives. Very glad to have known them both briefly.

I never met them personally, but felt I knew them through Paul's writings. Truly an inspiration at many levels. And they both motivated me to start getting bi-annual skin checkups.

Nee Bee that is very lovely of you. I will keep that in mind. :)
And I am happy Paul and Ruth's story have inspired others to get their check ups! I had a mole removed from my left thigh, it was teeny tiny. It was "severe a-typical" and I was happy to get it off!
I just wanted everyone to know I do a virtual run in July (my birthday month and the month Paul passed away from melanoma), but you can bike or hike too... I raise money for melanoma research by selling these cute medals. check out the new site I made this year.

not sure who has it now...
it WAS ruth's, and she got it on paul's birthday, by oddness of
mail-timing, of all things... i had thought it was lost...
i can also send you photo of that, too...
