Can you make it happen before the Sushifest?(Otherwise I have to choose one over the other...and it is all about me, isn't it?)
I haven't been able to keep up on the thread about his injury. Just read the beginning part and hadn't yet been mentioned the extent. What a bummer for him. I don't think anyone goes to a climbing gym thinking "I could be seriously injured." I mean, I know we know the potential is there, but it seems such a freak occurrence. Sorry to know he has been hurt so badly.

Of course I'm in for helping out with a Fundraiser (in addition to the Chip-In -- which I am assuming is on the up and up).

Considering the contributions John has made to this sport, I think it should not be a question of if we should have a fundraiser but when and where.

Locker, yes Todd's if he's into it. You don't have to donate to enjoy the Fundrasier, it's about community and showing up too.

Always have a hand out for a brother in need. Need to talk to my wife. We all love John, wish him the best, and we all need, once again, to rally together on this one. It's gonna be a tough road ahead;.....Rest assured, we got your back, John.

I can throw in a couple of the new second edition of Boulder Canyon rock climbs and a few new Shelf Rd guides. Would also throw in some cash and maybe if timing is right come out to the benefit.
I just had a huge medical bill after open heart surgery...my plan paid for a large percentage of the bill but still had a chunk of change out of pocket. This crap can wipe out your savings in the matter of days.
Hang in there JL and hoping for the best for you.
Todd...way to go. You are a class act.

Well. It probably comes as a surprise to many that Johno is not terrifically wealthy after all those books, all the slide shows, all the years, all the legendary ascents.
He has still been shaking the dice, staying fit, helping tons of people on intimate levels through four decades, has a family and a dear wife now that perhaps is ailing as well. He remains amongst us and has a story much like most ST members: he gave it all at "church", so to speak and today the rest of us join in to help this man at one of his bad spots along the way.

The fundraising link goes to the John Long Donations Fund in the name of Krista Goodsitt. Who is this person managing the fund collection and what his her connection to John Long? I can't find her name anywhere behind the Chipin link. Seems this might go a lot better if all this stuff was a little clearer and open.

Are we still planning on a bonfire and ghost stories.
I'm down for that count!
I remember one winter in JT, some wood lot owner would pull up with his dump truck loaded with a cord or so of wood, and dump in all in a fire ring and light it up.
We'd all be standing about 30' away, with our fronts roasting and our backs freezing.
Yeah, like that...
