hey there say, marlow... the only one, that i could say would
'make my heart soar' as to the woods and coutryside and rock, (is that what you mean?) ... would be from my mom's dear daddy...

he was imigrant, over to here, as a child, from slovenia...
he LOVED the woods... he taught her, and the sisters in her family, and she taught us...

he had to learn the language and became a construction worker and thus,
was able to see 'bids' that came out fast, for land to be bought...
when he was able, he bought a great little piece of property with WOODS out back (owned or not, not sure, as to the wood, but they were their for our walking, when we were there once as kids)...

he used a backhoe thing? and dug his own pond and stocked it, as well, to fish in... it was a lovely bit of 'homeland' i reckon, for him...

his one daughter, ellen, did the same... bought way out in the woods, and made a pond...

my mom, had been moved out to calif by our dad... she had to make due with the foothills, etc...

and us, kids... well, chappy and the rest of us fell in love with yosemite... and all those surrounding areas...

:)

our other family roots, dad's english, irish and possible native american, or mystery spot, is, one side...

my mom's slovenian/ out of austriahungary, and german, on other side...
her folks went back, to see the homeland in slovenia, but no one, by
then, was left... just the town... forgot the name of it...

Matty.

A great video. I can feel the freedom...

You think about how you're on such a fine line moving through these mountains and how free and alive they make you feel.

They say the birds here carry the souls of fallen skiers and climbers who once lived and died in these mountains. When you watch them fly in the wind, you imagine who they could have been...

more goodstuff:

They have patrollers..but only to filter out those unprepared to deal with mountain hazards as they board the lift. After that your on your own.

The chutes there are unreal. I recall skiing chutes 35-45 degrees that were over a thousand meters long.

This is not my video but just a taste of one of the "shorter" coliours

Came back from Italy yesterday and I was pretty sure this was Le Massif des Écrins
but it does not look like the posted pics of La Meije.

Reilly,

Nice photo but you're joking, right?

That's Mount Blanc. The pyramid shaped peak on the right side of the photo is the Aiguille Verte.

Cheers.

That's a great photo of La Meije. I can even imagine seeing the Grandes Jorasses on the right side.

By the way: I think I found a picture of your cabin in Firenze...

Geez, Marlow, you really know how to put the knife in and twist it by showing
the crappy job those pazzi tree trimmers did.

Yes, they trimmed them well - nothing hanging from those trees...
