Donini, be honest, you are stirring sh#t.
I mean, look at how evenly divided we are. I tell ya, I gotta TR on the Climber's Festival, but it's disguised as just a regular post on a regular thread. (Oh, the things they told on Jim.)
One needs to be inventive if one wishes to keep his Schlepping up the Turd Pillar or the East Buttress of MCR to the top of the page. It gets wearisome. We eventually tire of reading of our own brilliance, but only after the initial riot of "Dude, oh"s is quelled by exposure to fresh air.

Yes, I post on Trip Reports. Really appreciate those who take the time to share their pictures and adventures.

Post to others, but quit writing them as it is not too productive towards seeing more climbing related matetial on this site. Starting threads seems to do a better job. If people wrote their trs on a related thread it might do more good toward this end, but not much.

Sure. But there is truth to the idea that sometimes there just isn't much to say beyond "nice job".
But I also see it from the other side, because I write TRs on a semi regular basis, a couple a year at least. And it's nice to get some feedback and acknowledgement beyond the simple number page views.
I'll also admit that I only read about half the TRs that are posted. Sometimes seeing that they keep getting bumped by people commenting to them will spur me to read it and see what all the hubub is about. These are usually for wall trade routes or moderate classic free climbs...typically routes that I've both climbed and read numerous trip reports of, so don't have a natural curiosity about.

Hell yeah I love TRs. Some people put a lot of time into them too; how hard is it to write a two second comment on something someone put a lot of time into?

Absolutely!
Putting together a TR is a lot of work. People aren't doing it to spray - they do it to contribute to a sense of community.
It's ridiculous to see a TR with 400 reads and 8 responses.
Peoples main concern seems to be about repetition. Chris tried to address this with the Facebook "like" button, but just because I like a TR doesn't mean I want to share it on my Facebook page.
I try to say something unique but if my imagination fails me, the fall-back position is just to be genuine. Sometimes "Thanks" is enough. It's pretty fast to scroll past as a reader but to the OP the repetition has meaning.

I post on lots of TR's -- partly as a sort of penance for my prolific posting on political threads, but also because I genuinely appreciate the trip reports. The real problem in keeping a trip report on the front page is that they seldom engender discussion, only assent (so to speak).

**Yes, but not very often, although i do read many of them.
They do get read... The replies to the trip reports can be low, but the view numbers are usually high. Nita**
Yes, the replies are low and the view numbers are high because "we're not worthy"

Be honest. Be sincere. Like these.
(Phylyp, I'm sorry, I couldn't resist a titch of humor. Sometimes even the biggest and best TRs get hung out there and don't get the attention they merit. They need to be handled with proper enthusiasm, but sometimes you just aren't in the mood.)

More of us should use our god-given right to bump. We don't have to mouth real or acronymic platitudes if we have nothing much to say, just bump the thing and say, "bump for a worthy TR." That includes bumping old stuff we enjoyed too---the only one who does this now is Steve Grossman and it would be nice if the rest of us joined in. How many cool things did you miss the first time around that Steve later bumped into your consciousness?
