To be honest I think the cat will be better with you guys than anyone else. Anything is possible, and maybe he just got lost, but letting your cat wander around Yosemite is never a good idea. I believe you two are responsible and would protect your cats with great care. I hope he stays in your hands..
:`(((((((((((((( If I ever visit SoCal can I beg to do a small re-union with him. Seriously was one of the nicest little things I have met in my life. Nice to meet you guys too.

Strays are really common around campgrounds. Unfortunately people bring their cats on road-trips and cats often escape and get lost.
Kitty lucked out that you guys picked him up before he got eaten or starved to death. Good thing he's so friendly.

Cosmics petulant display of insolence (in regards to cat's) was prollie fueled by memories of
Tweety Bird vs Sylvester, bitd (CC being a bird/parrot man)...
edit: btw, i am also hoping that no one attempts to claim Mr/Ms Lucky!

hey there say, D'Wolf... very good to give the cat safty and still keep checking for its owners...
i know chappy had a cat for years in yosemite (yosemite west) and think? he said it was one of the few cats that survived all those years, as many do not...
he kept her in, i reckon, but of course, they like to go out and many folks DO let them out and come back in... she was a GREAT CAT, and when he moved he brought her to my mom (i was living with her at the time) ...
the cat lived ?about 2-3?? more years, not sure... but--she was about 20 +? years old... very thin and showing her age by then... but a wonderful cat... *she must hve known to stay close to home and avoid wildlife and strangers, :)
so--
you never know why that cat was roaming... so you are doing good to let the owner get a chance, and helping it out....
good job...
:)

Thanks guys for all the well wishes. I don't know how much I believe in karma, but I know how we'd feel if one of our others somehow wandered from home (they are indoor only, as will be the new edition). We cannot keep this cat around no matter how much we want to without making some attempt to find the person who is probably experiencing what we would never want to experience.
Vitaliy - anytime man; shoot me an email when you're in town; we'll let you have supervised visits! (just kidding).
Cheers,
Thom

You grind up cute little bunny rabbits and feed them to your cat????!
I hate to think what you feed your kids - "Mom hit a bum on the freeway today so we're having stew for dinner!"

I want to be a lion
Everybody wants to pass as cats
Mr. Jones and me staring at the video
when I look at the television, I want to see me staring
right back at me
We all want to be big stars, but we don't know why
and we don't know how
But when everybody loves me, I'm going to be just
about as happy as I can be
Mr. Jones and me, we're gonna be big stars...

Nope, not orange; not even remotely. Sorry.
Ricky - yep, cute little bunnies. Well, I don't kill and grind 'em myself; no way could I actually be the one to do it. I just try to accept that cats are obligate carnivores and cute little bunnies (amongst other cute little animals) are what they would eat in the wild. They're not vegetarians so I deal with it.
Cheers,
Thom

Speaking of color, if it happens to be a black cat, be extra careful this time of year (Halloween). We use to have two black cats (Momma Kitty & Boy Kitty/not very origional, i know), back in the 80's and every Halloween we would find a dish with cat food in it out by the corner of our lot/by the road the morning after Halloween...peeps were trying to kidnap them (seriously). By some of the responses on this thread, cud be a couple of them posting here! lol
edit: CC, looks to me like ya trained yer parrots as hitmen. any cat with at least a bird sized brain, would steer clear of them critters. ;)
btw, i believe "bird brain" is a misnomer, cuz parrots can learn to speak better than some people i have met.
