Gee, I hope we haven't scared him off. Really, the natives are (mostly) friendly, and you'll know more than a few of them behind their nicknames.

Wayne has been a silent reader of ST for a long time, but has never felt comfortable with posting. Of course, any thing he offered would be hugely welcomed, and, as Anders points out, he has many friends on ST, but something has held him back. I was very surprised to see his mouse ode. Wayne is a great guy, gentle and tough as nails, a wonderful writer, and fun to be friends with. It would be very cool if he joined in.

Wayne's voice will be a treasure for us to hear. Just think of the stories he could tell us.

I hope he feels like talking to us, even if only on rare occasions.

Tis the summer of 1960, the Meadows and Dana Couloir and Wayne was kind enough to loan we novices some ice climbing gear so we ventured out for an afternoon of fun and games and learning by failing or was that flailing?

Wayne was always a great source of info on climbs, interaction with the old NPS and a base to venture out from. I worked for him the first year the Mountaineering School opened but it wasn't my cup of tea and I bailed for the Tetons.

Welcome Wayne!

Thanks for the great welcome, all. Those complimentary terms? You must have mistaken me for someone else. Anyway, I'll try to invent some huge old-timer lies and hope that somebody like Breedlove doesn't blow the whistle on me.

Have been addicted to ST for a long time - hilarious, provoking, ridiculous, whatever - but have to admit that I am sometimes baffled by the jargon. Been out of the loop too long. And I'm so boggled by what's being done now that I don't feel qualified even to comment.

Anyway,looking forward.

Yes Fossil, the terms are funny now.

Just chill, and on your next climb you can send, then hobble down to the bar, toss a couple back and spray!!

Rarely. Not many climbers around here. Of course if there are many sweet young things in the crowd, I may have to mention it myself.

How do you get rid of that Edit button?

Hi Wayne,

I swear that I will reveal no truths. I have been practicing this without flaw since my first post on SuperTopo. Of course, in all the years we have know each other, you know that I have flirted with the truth, but it just never worked out; always so heart breaking.

So, I just decided to quit worrying about what is true. Life is so much easier now, and rewarding: I have much more time now. It was in the works for years: I waited until the girls were grown and had moved away. In real life, if I have had a glass of wine or a scotch, I sometimes feel myself slipping into truthiness, and before you know it, I am caught red-handed, spouting off about something and sticking to the facts. I always feel so down the next morning: a truth hangover.

But on SuperTopo, it is so easy to stay on the wagon, so to speak. The place is full of folks who cannot tell the truth if their lives depended on it. Natural born climbers, I guess. Great role models for those of us who have to stay in practice and are still mastering the art. The few climbers who are sticklers for the truth decided to spare the rest of us and keep their truth posts on just a few threads. While those treads are very long, they are repetitive and so...well, true. I give them a lot of credit: it cannot be easy to be a climber and tell the truth.

I try to keep an open mind, but it just seems so un-natural to me. Maybe I am just getting old and cranky.

So, fire up the memory banks and tell us some stories without encumbering the story line with truthiness.

I would like to hear about your life in the North. I have always liked getting your trip reports and pictures from your adventures over the years. I am sure that fellow campers will appreciate them also.

I say Roger the truth, but in a gentlemanly fashion, ya rude bastards!

Wayne, Please ask the interviewers to set up a thread and you'll meet them there.

This thread is about welcoming you.

I for one would not like to see it co-opted.

Thank you, and welcome once again.

Bruce - Yeah, Yukon Energy wanted to dam Atlin Lake and make a drawdown reservoir out of it, even though they have 10x the hydro potential in Yukon.
We won. Man, it's really nice to win an environmental fight!

Guess I should have looked at the date.
Hope he comes back to add "signal" amid the noise
