I have to say that the opposite is true. I have done a fair mix of trad, sport, and bouldering in my life. To me bouldering does not have the same exhilaration and sense of accomplishment as doing long trad routes, or the prolonged rush of redpointing something. But, bouldering is just plain damn fun! Theres no involvment, no gear, no big approaches (usually), no epic descents. You just walk up and start climbing. Movement and rock. And if you do a solo session, its quite peaceful too.

Stupid question and you know it. Like most of climbing it's not so exciting to watch. But like most of climbing it's pretty exciting while you're doing it.
Get up on some high ball boulder problem and tell me that you're bored.
You forgot to add "for me"...
Bouldering isn't pretty exciting while I'm doing it. Mildly interesting, perhaps, but far from pretty exciting. "Scared" is not the same as "not bored".
Ok. Fine. "For me". But like any climbing I've done, bouldering has been every bit as exciting to me for a variety of reasons, be it the company I'm with or the problem I'm working. Could be low to the ground with interesting moves that keeps my mind engaged in trying to unlock how to actually do it or high off the ground where the fall factor keeps my mind engaged simply because of the danger, the interest and the lack of boring is there. For me.
If you're looking for excitement in video format (as the OP seems to be suggesting) then yes, bouldering is boring. Just like pretty much any form of cimbing. But then it could depend on the sound track.

captivating for the boulderer, and hopefully enough of a spectator sport to keep the spotter awake.

I'm OK with it so long as they don't start publishing guidebooks and topos for bouldering areas.

"F*#king Layton Kor... God I hate Cameron Burns. I wonder how much it would hurt if I just jumped? Why the hell would anyone climb this hunk of dirt anyway, or anything for that matter-pointless? How long can you be dead and still be an organ donor?"

OK, the SIN video IS painful to watch. I don't think I would have stuck with the sport many years ago if sit-starts on tiny boulders became popular at that time.
But Chouinard and I did no-hands traverses on rocks a foot or so high for the fun of it.
