Ken

I just sent you an email for a site request.

To say that I am looking forward to it...is an understatement!

Cheers,
Nick

I have Friday and Saturday off and plan on being there. Anyone want to share a site with me. I'll bring a guitar also and of course the tambourine.

Love to you all, Lynne

Today's trail work at Suicide was super fun. Jim Lucke and his crew are doing really good stuff.

Apparently there won't be an asphalt project this year at Facelift. That's the way it is, but somehow I do want to get on a work crew with Cragman. It is always a treat to see a dynamo in action.

I bet we could find some asphalt, if we wanted. Last year we poked around Camp 4, and got about 100 kg. Scraping the surface, if you'll excuse the expression. Think of all those decomposing old roads there!

And if we're feeling really energetic, we could have a go at the concrete foundations and plumbing from the old outhouses. Maybe Piton Ron has the needed expertise.

We may need to think of some sort of diversionary story and tactics for Ken, Jesse and Pinky, though.

On the right, Lindsey, who helped a lot with camping arrangements for the Facelift last year. She's not in Yosemite any more, but I heard may still be helping from a distance, even if she can't make it in person.

As you can see, she's a pretty good artist, too.

I must meet this Guido. I will do what I must, but this has just become(?) my latest hot priority. Joe, Whether or not, you're pretty wise, so there. We must talk. Hey, Cade didn't want to be my sensei either....but it had a great effect. That's the thing that bugs me about the intraNET. There's no sweat meter. Or dream laborer. Some folk are...some are not. I may be on the wrong thread for the discussion I feel is worthy given the question...Or not. I can't tell anymore.

Boundaries? Whut's thet?

P:S...Kovar Call me. Leave a DETAILED message. Have a nice day, y'hear?

I'm going to miss Lindsey's cheerful face and personality at Facelift this
year, she was so pleasant to deal with the past several years, and devoted
so much of her time to Facelift.
Good luck to you in your new endeavors Lindsey, wherever you are! :)

Ken, when are we supposed to get a response to our request?

I know you're busy but I haven't gotten anything back yet, just curious.

Patience, grasshoppers. First Ken - that is, his camping helper(s) - has to receive all the requests. Then match them up with available sites and dates. It takes time, maybe several weeks or more, and they may not send a "request received" autoreply, like e-commerce sites. I'm sure they'll do their best to let everyone know what's happening a reasonable time in advance.

You know, I've been living in NH for three years and haven't returned to CA since then. This is the perfect opportunity to return and heckle fellow ST'ers at the same time.

Sign me up.

Don't worry. You will get a response soon. Lindsey is working full time at Estes Park and is taking care of the camping in her spare time. We just recently announced the camping and you all have responded early so you will be ok.

Any archeologists interested? This is from the NPS website.

(updated May 31, 2012). Facelift is a volunteer activity in Yosemite National Park, Sept 25-30. This is an annual clean-up in the park sponsored largely by Yosemite climbers, but attended by a wide range of volunteers. The Yosemite Archeology Office has become involved over the years in order to limit damage to archeological sites, and to train volunteers to differentiate historical artifacts from more modern trash. Public education activities include: screening the "trash" for historical cultural material, documenting the artifacts, and involving archeological volunteers from students (grad and undergrad) to CRM professionals. It's fun, and a great way to learn about historical Yosemite archeology. And camping opportunities may be provided. If you're interested, please contact the Facelift Archeology Coordinator, Shelley Szeghi at Shelley_Szeghi@nps.gov or 209-379-1431. The Yosemite Climbing Association website at http://www.yosemiteclimbing.org/ has more information, including some pictures from 2011.

Ya Hoo!! First time back to the valley in 4 years! Worked at the Yosemite Institute and promised to return to volunteer at Facelift...and finally got the time off from my job. Have already sent in the email campsite request for myself and 2 friends. Really want to stay at Camp 4!!!
