Obama is getting reelected because he hasn't done one thing to really upset the elite power and money in this country and plenty to support them.

Bingo.

As for the Bible, Klimmer can correct me if I don't recall this correctly, isn't eating a cheeseburger also an abomination before the lord?

Ron, just a quick question.
Have you gotten laid...

... this century?

You seem a little tightly wound.
Does that nervous energy get your toes a tappin' in the men's room at airports?

He is KNOTT focusing on it you are.
You are perseverating on it.
He simply and quite boldly stated his opinion and said it is a States rights issue.
Then moved on to governing the whole country.

Hiya Klimmer

Love the sinner not the sin?

How is it this seems to always come up when talking about gay issues? It seems a pointless statement to me other than a thinnly veiled way of saying I will treat someone poorly because they sin in some way I find useful to pick out and persecute..It's just tough love. Saying that a sin is something to focus on legally is an excuse for focusing on anyone you wish to since we are ALL sinners of some type or other.

As a christian I am sure of one thing, I am a sinner. Probably a worse sinner than many people, gay, straight or whatever.

With hope for grace and with Faith in My lord Jesus I have hope of life eternal.

As a citizen of the USA I have the right to require the government to stay out of religious controversies of all types and to legislate purely on grounds of fairness treating ALL citizens with equal rights and protections under the law.

Obama gave a candid reply to a volatile question, how refreshing is that, and how unlike Romney.

oxymorons: "gay marriage" and "logical debate on gay marriage."

Gentlemen, can't Mr. Obama, having stirred the pot, be waiting for Mr. Romney to jump into the fray and make some indecent or ill-conceived remark on the subject, thus leading to his "blowing" the election?

Klimmer, don't. I don't care how God rules on this issue and a lot of others. She is not the one to decide these things. We poor idiots have to learn toleration, if not love. It's not a preachable thing, more a teachable thing. Like teaching your children well, regardless of who their actual birth parents were. My daughter turned out just perfect, having been raised by a loving pair of women. Base your judgments on good results, not some pie in the dark skies of the Promised Land.

And a BIG BUMP for the Doh-boy! "Our-ay for our side."

Throw it??? Hardly.

If anything I think this is gonna help him win the election. Mitt will probably blow it by making some stupid retort to Obama's announcement. Well done Mr. President.

On a side note, I myself am Christian and I am for gay marriage. Being gay is a biological thing, not a choice one makes.

"PS This should have gone in the political thread "

yeah, I realize that...but sh#t just gets lost in the signal to noise in there

I didn't make my point clear enough. There are battleground states that use E- voting for instance. As a computer scientist of 15 years - these machines are worthless and easily compromised (I could root one and put pacman on it without breaking the seals) I strongly suspect O will lose some battleground states he should really win, and the mainstream media will tell us all it must have been the gay marriage issue that pulled out voters and not election fraud.

(personally I am all for it, btw - that's not what i'm asking here...)

Marriage should be banned. C'mon now. Then everybody would be equal. Just don't sign on the dotted line.

I said it here. Obama will win a squeaker, very little will change.

It's too bad Obama couldn't have *evolved* sometime during his first two years in office - when his party enjoyed a strong majority in Congress - so he could have actually done something about this.

Did he purposely come out for gay marriage realizing that he might lose? I doubt it. Was he played by his handlers? Probably..

I'm not sure he's going to lose too many votes because of this. Maybe a few very religious blacks. Otherwise, most of the people that would would make this a deciding factor wouldn't have been voting for him in the first place.
I wish he had taken the stand sooner, but I'm glad he finally did make a clear statement.

Good for your one evangelical friend. He's a fool.

Gay people being married is ZERO threat to civilization as we know it.
They can't possibly f*#k it up any worse than men and women have.

The best thing we can do is take away as much power from the government as we can.

That way, when the religious crazies get elected ( again ), their capacity to actually do anything will be diminished.

The only thing The Believers can do to you, in an extreme case, is make you think you're going to hell - if you let them.

Without government enforcing their crazy ideas, they're out of bullets.
