Apparently the Pinnacles are closed d/t funding shortfalls. The state slated a number of state parks to close in the last couple of years because of a newly reduced budget, PP being one of them. I don't think it's closed all year, there is just a very small season in which the park is open.
I doesn't really bother me as I never really cared for that chosspile, but it is perplexing as it seems all they need to do is open the gate... But I geuss they have to "maintain" the trails too. It's unfortunate that there is so much red tape involving state gov as I know of a number of folks in the area who would gladly volunteer to maintain the trails if the state would let them.

Maintain the trails? I'm choking on my Cheerios. Them trails didn't need
no maintaining BITD, we got to the climbs just fine without the guvmint's help.
I gotta admit that some of them were a little dicey. If you didn't watch
yerself you could slip and scrape your hiney.

Nice video of a great place to climb. Learned to free climb there in the early 70s. Midway, Saber, Damnation Crack, Angel Route, Century Route and the Scary Canary in RRs. Great routes. Scary Canary was so memorable. Still remember stepping off Saber Ledge, like whoaaa!, 40 years later.
We'd only climbed at Lower Index Town Wall (aid) until Del Langbauer told us about Levenworth and how we should go there. Best advice we ever got.
