Old skool lads!
Before plumbers had this wanky ABS, PVC, and Pex they got to play with cast iron. One could build up some fine muscles hauling that sh#t around and hoisting some pints in-between.
Repeat some of his classic routes with similar gear or lack thereof, and under similar conditions and you many have a whole new appreciation for the "Tigers of Yesterday."

Patrick,
I'm not really old school in any way but I still love your stories and history. Especially living up here in Alaska its about the only way I get some history. I hope you keep it up because I read every bit of it!

I want to re-do my Wizards of Rock book
Yes, indeed. Wish the original had been published in the form you wrote it. The community needs you as a historian.

At a RockCraft session, we were talking about Whillans, and Royal said, "There is no one I would rather be with in a life or death situation than Whillans, unless only one of us were to come out alive."

It ranks up there as one of the two that I have always remembered.
The other, which I think is original to Royal, has nothing to do with climbing but we will all recognize a climber we know: "He is often right, but he speaks always with the same authority."
