Few things in life are as rewarding, and challenging on occasions, as having and raising kids. Congrats to you both, may health and happiness follow you all.

Nita, I did not deliver him. We had to have a c-section and I needed to be by Anastasia's side instead of the other side of the curtain. If it had been a normal delivery then I would have done it myself with the OB standing by to assist if necessary.
Aristides was a Greek statesman from around 400 BC. The name means "The Just One" or "The Fair One". We will be calling him Aries (or Aris for the Greeks).
The middle name is in honor of Jordan Ramey after he ran out to get help during our ill-fated Castle Rock Spire attempt in 2010.
Mother and baby have not been home yet so Loki hasn't had a chance to meet him. I did bring home a blanket he had been wrapped in. She sniffed it then laid her head on it and went to sleep.
MisterE, it was my pleasure. Silver, I know what you mean. I saw a 2 year old today as a patient and couldn't believe how big this girl was at age 2 after thinking about how small Aries is at 2 days old. The time will fly and I'm sure I'm going to miss it.
Thanks everyone for the congratulations. This has definitely been the most exciting event of my life and I'm so happy to be sharing it with Anastasia.

A second congratulations to you all!
Here is an appropriate blog entry you may enjoy.

I especially liked this statement:
"...I will even say that climbers and skiers have a distinct advantage over other parents in handling the challenges of a new baby. The three biggest complaints I heard from new parents was: the lack of sleep, changing diapers and dealing with the crying. These are things that climbers and skiers are well trained to handle and it is just a matter of adjusting to a new context."

Plus Loki is in love with him too. Our dog has been guarding him since arrival, always the first one to get up when he cries and... She gently kisses him, likes to put he head near his feet and just watch Aris as he sleeps. I have a great family which scares me silly. So much worth dying for, so much to lose and so much to live for... Incredible mind blowing. :)
Skip!!!! Yes, it took a bit longer than anticipated but heck... Good stuff does takes it's time to arrive. Seams everything wonderful in my life is always after a great wait. I am getting a clue, I am slowly learning to accept the flow. I sure as heck don't control any of this that is my life despite all my trying. :)

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow!!!!! How did I miss this? Congratulations you two, he's awesome! Many, many blessings to you all!
Those first moments are very precious… Remembering all four of mine now. The first time I held my first (who is now graduating from college this June! Time will fly so seize it!), she looked so calmly and serenely into my eyes with a look that said, "So you're that guy who's been yammering on for the past nine months!" :-) Luckily, I have a photo of that moment.
So excited for your growing family!
