There is more covert racism in California than the overt bullshit I saw growing up in Tennessee.

That's the truth. Today, there's more segregation in California than in the south. Institutionalized racism was a fact of life in L.A. and Southern California 40 years ago. Not until the early '60s did the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club allow blacks or Jews to join.
