Peter is fantastically inspiring. Does anyone know if there's a biography of him in a backissue of some magazine or something? I've only been climbing a few years, and I keep hearing about all his grand accomplishments back in the day, but the details are usually pretty sparse.

Just found out there was reason for embarrassment on my computer. I haven't got a handle on the whole avatar thing so I don't know who's saying what (pretty sneaky). I know who Conrad is - the Radster thrashed me on the snow and ice in Bozeman last week. And Ghost - not sure who you are - Geez, hiding behind your anonymity while flaunting my boobs!
Anyway, I've got a story of my own:
Bunch of years ago my buddy Jim and I are walking thru the Camp 4 parking lot and he sees an acquaintance on the edge of a small crowd. We head over and find them all listening to this one guy who's spouting what sounds like his whole mountaineering resume. Just after we get there he goes into this long story about climbing with Peter Croft. I look at Jim - Jim looks at me. Holy Crap, I've just ended up in Bizarro World. I've never met this guy before so I step up and ask "So, what was it like - you know, climbing with Peter Croft?" And he's like "Yeah, it was cool. We swung leads up the whole route." "Wow," I said, "That does sound pretty neat." We left after a little while - it was just too much. As soon as we left Jim asks me why I didn't bust the guy on his tale. "No way," I say "That was hilarious."
Besides, I knew I could never live up to the hype - he made me sound like a giant muscle man. I'd only be a disappointment.
And now, years later, I've got someone telling tall tales about me splitting my dessert with them. I've gotten used to putting lifts in my shoes and wearing shoulder pads but sharing my cheesecake - No, I don't think I would do that.

HaHaHa! But if you think the Camp 4 parking lot is bad
you ain't seen nuthin' yet! There's even some whackjobs here
parading around with avatars like Donini and Largo!

Oh, yeah, welcome to the Nuthouse! :-)

Got a story close to that... a bunch of years ago, I was working on a guidebook and (as usual) there was tons of stuff still left to research, photo, document, etc. Standard guidebook stuff, but the publisher hadn't even seen a page yet at that point. Some guy in one of the local climbing shops asks one of the doods working there about the new guidebook and the shop guy I don't know tells the other guy it's going to be out out any day now. I basically say "yeah, I wouldn't count on that, it's going to be a while." And the shop guy gets kind of belligerent and wanted to get in a big argument with me over it. I let him have his way. I never did spill the beans and tell him why I knew how long it was going to take.

Welcome to the campfire Peter!

Yeah, I know. When I joined up here I thought everyone was expected to take some stupid name, so I did. I've thought about giving up the ghost, but then I realized that's eventually going to happen whether I want it to or not. So until they bury me beneath a headstone with the name David Harris on it, I'll continue to haunt this place.

Picture of your boobs was taken on the way into Rexford that time we (and John, Peder, Ryan, and Tami) saved Canada by becoming famous film actors.

I still did not make up my mind if it is sad, annoying, or hilarious when people do that..

Whoa. I'm slow. I just caught on to why Tami has the "knight" for her avatar.

I'm going to the car.

I sometimes wonder how you people are able to take all those photos during the climbs. And when you do - why it's not just heads and asses. I could never do that.
