When I did the rotten log a few weeks before it was trundled I was able to lift it out and pivot it away from the rock. It would have been so easy. It was so slick and polished, and it vibrated.

That sounds about right to me. When we did it in '81 it was really about to go. When I heard it went a few years later I was surprised it had lasted so long - as in two more years being long..

Damn, I climbed the arches 3 times between 1982 and 1984, but cannot remember the rotten log!
Either:
1) you people are on chemical enhancements
2) I was on chemical enhancements
3) Wow, it's kind of sunny out. Let's all take some chemical enhancements...

I sure hope no one dies on Double Cross in the next two weeks, but I think it is certain before the end of the month!

Off Topic and Bolt Wars is so last year, but I don't remember any bolt on Dbl Cross?
'Course, I haven't been on it since the late Pleistocene.
One of my first whippers was onto a single #4 Chouinard Stopper, right at the crux, near the bottom.
Like, '81 a guy cratered on it, hemoraged bad leaving quite the gruesome skid mark and I guided my clients right over the evidence, probably 12-24 hours after the incident.
'Figured it would be good for them to confront the reality: they got it.
Anyhow, Juan, let us know what you need to replicate the log, as the problematic issues arise.

Thae last person across the log was Kathy Burns and her partner, Dave Schultz was the one who pushed off the log.. Why don't you ask him? Or ask him for help in replacing the log. With his newfangled thingamijig he developed for stunt rigging, he might be able to help raise it up there, or at least help defray the cost.

Can I have some help with the cost. It looks like the project might run a few thousand dollars to make a good log. I will try to have this done by fall.
Figure we will need a team of ten or so.

He needs someone to make the log and put it in place on the rock, take a photo of it, and post it on ST. Then he will tell you what you did wrong and impress Lois.

Some parameters needed.
Length of Log?
Diameter?
Natural Frequency desired?
Friction? Polished slick as I recall.
Does anyone recall what type of tree it was?
