Yes, freeing that headwall is hanging it out there. It would take an extreme amount of stamina to save something for that late on the route.

I'm thinkin' that when I send it, I'm gonna start with the headwall, and get the pumpfest over with right off the bat.

What an amazing accomplishment! Congratulations!

I met Mayan in NZ several years ago after a long flight from SF while we were waiting to clear Customs. Pretty hard not to be impressed with a beautiful young lady and several large haul bags heading for the clearance line.

I think it was at the end of her first Fall season in the Valley and her obvious respect and humbleness of the climbing was enlightening. Great attitude and super accomplishment.

She could have been ugly, hailed from the Maldives and had a penis. None of that would have detracted from such an amazing accomplishment. But I agree, it's cool that a route freed by <.5% of the climbing population was sent by a woman. I am in awe of her determination and hard work.

That's just absurd. Everyone knows there's no good climbers from the Maldives!

While I would love to honor such an immense climbing achievement, I couldn't give two twits about it after meeting her recently and finding her to be probably the most naturally contemptuous and impolite person I ever met. It was bewildering.

I have far greater respect for the accomplishments of a weaker climber who is supportive of others and who spreads the joy of the sport.

Probably a good thing you didn't get too close Bertrand. With arms like those it looks like she could snap most American men like twigs off a branch.

Not really, at least for me. Her send tells me all I need to know.

Sorry guys, I should soften my comment about her personality. Who knows what life circumstances a person has in their background and how it shapes the way he/she treats others. [] And, as she says, it's noble to simply express herself through her climbing.

But I must say I prefer to celebrate people that I like, people who respect and share joy with others. And after a number of encounters in a short period of time, I found her to be quite dislikable. And therefore, I personally don't give a flying f#ck about her accomplishment. But that's just one perspective.

Its interesting the times we choose to incorporate personality into artwork, like how often I hear that people are not fans of Michael Jordan after hearing how impersonal he was or that Warhol was a sociopath voyeur.

You can appreciate the art and pay no mind the intricacies that make up the personality of the Artist. If you disagree with me I hope you never enjoy a Michael Jackson song :)

Well, aren't you just an anonymous guy talking sh#t about other people on the internet? I bet you don't tell her that in person, huh?

She's pretty much the opposite of what you describe in your first post, and that's not only my perspective.

Bertrand, you need to recognize. In 2010 when my partner and I rescued your sniveling ass off of the 3rd Pillar in a lightning storm, you think we were enjoying it? No, but we didnt talk sh#t either. I'm glad we all survived.

Awesome accomplishment for Mayan!

after meeting her recently and finding her to be probably the most naturally contemptuous and impolite person I ever met.

You should meet me, it would relegate her easily to 4th place (I'd get #1,2,AND 3).

And I ain't even kidding about that, but WTF, over? Maybe you're just a dick or creepy stalker type and she didn't cotton to you. Or maybe she was having a bad day, happens to the best of us. But why do you need to spray your personal drama on a celebration of her athletic accomplishment? Just paints you as a sad, attention starved little man.

Mad props and congrats to the lady. Aside from the accomplishment itself, look at them guns, the lady is ripped.

Ha! Great remarks! Celebrate the accomplishment all you want. I'm not holding anyone back. I am just adding a view that some might find interesting.
