Strawbeey Lodge @ Lover's Leap, with Petch pouring drinks and throwing out beta. He used to let you check out his guidebook at the bar while you ate and drank.
I stopped in last weekend for a Bloody Mary (world's best) on the way to Tahoe.
Petch is a bro and I love Strawberry Lodge, but I'd have to see (and taste) the Bloody Mary to believe it beats this:
-knott to mention that it's $5.00 every day from 3:00 - 6:00pm at Balboa Cafe in Mill Valley
(close to killer new bouldering on Mt Tam and routes and bouldering at Mickey's Beach).

I guess that "best" is open to interpretation.....
JT Saloon in Josh - the beer is cold and the local ...wildlife....amusing
We usually hang out at Zion Pizza and Noodle when we are there. Their cheese bread is a meal in itself and is like 4 bucks. Good selection of brews.
In Vegas, Three Angry Wives on Charleston is a good after-crag place, decent prices and good food. Try the loaded potatoes.

Personally, I like the Divided Sky.
However, that's a very Tahoe-centric sort of vote.

Knott- that bloody Mary pic made my wife kinda squishy... She swears by the one at the station at the top of the palm springs tramway...

Divided Sky is your favorite Phish song?
That deserves a thread unto itself.

I almost got jumped by a gang of tweakers at the Iron Door. I asked them why they stole my beer and dog food from the doorstep of my rented mobile home. Why I lived in a mobile home in Groveland with my brother and our girlfriends for a week is a whole different story.
Edit: My brothers girlfriend ended up fighting the tweakers, strange days for sure.

Silver Dollar Bar in Cody and the Grizzly Bar in Roscoe, MT are ones that ice climbers aren't going to want to miss. Good food and cheap drinks in settings that ooze charachter.

From that photo, it looks like the Ponderosa has been gentryfyed.
That was an interesting place on a rainy night when packed with bikers, loggers, smelly hippie climbers and a few bewildered tourists.

The Drake, in Canmore. Not really anything special as a bar, but it's in the best climbing destination.

^^^^ ya mike m, and by the way ... "where the hell is roscoe?" ... ha, local joke.
i played this song ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnGVSIRCi7A ...
on the juke box at the grizzly bar with my final load sitting on the porch
all set for a solo on one of the bigger features up the east rosebud.
after about the third repeat the cowboys sort of nudged me out the door,
but the song kept rolling around in my head for the next couple days.
after four pitches i decided i wasn't a soloist, just a guy without a partner.
that mushroom swiss burger played heavily on my decision
