Woody - THAT was funny.

Crimp - I am one of those who thinks a lot of this crap is in the head. My suggestion - lazy, hot baths, deep breathing, and living in a calm and soothing way. Yoga and meditation. Letting go of the stuff that gets you agitated..... Focus on your breath. Even try a meditation where you focus on the twitch.....go deeply inside it. Sothe it, through deep breathing exercises.

We sure are funny, us people, with all our foibles.

Crimpie, It's the caffine girl.Lois, will scare the sh#t out of you if you read tooooo much of her stuff. She pulls info straight out of the med books. Doc's & nurses only treat symptoms.Think abstract & delete the cafe for a while.Happygirl is on the right track also.rg

Crimpie,

irritation of a small motor nerve (not sensory Lois). been climbing lots lately? I'd try the tennis ball trick or get a massage therapist to work on your back.

I think Woody is on to something. Considering that, don't mess too much with the 'spro, leave that medication in the hands of a clinician. An insuffucuent caffiene tider could be lethal. It is NOT reccomended to cut down below 5 (double) shots. Especially if you're headed to josh. There was a time there when the 'spro maker at the base of the climb was de riguer. The wider the crack the larger the dose.

Sodium isn't a bad idea, either. Tortilla chips ( I reccomend sesame blues) dipped in red wine should do it.

on a serious note, K+ (bananas)and calcium supplemets keep my calves from cramping in the night.

Did the Ramayana consider Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and Han solo?

Great stuff. I love you people!!! I have been hitting climbing extra hard Matisse - that may be the issue. I suppose that climbing more is the way to get past this, right? :)

Here's my updated plan of attack:

Reduce the expressos. I did not get the three post-lunch shots that have become routine in the 4 or 5 weeks. Good for my health and I'll save a freakin' bundle!

I will consume LOTS of red wine. In the event I run out, I will substitute white wine.

I will get in the hot tub nightly with the red wine. Because of Happi's suggestion to chill out, I will add bubbles for their soothing nature (Plus it makes me all slippery which is just plain fun!)

I will check for breast enlargement repeatedly while all slippery in the tub, drinking red wine.

I rarely have any sodium. I can't believe it isn't in oatmeal! Jeez. I will see what I can add to my pathetic diet to correct this deficiency.

And Werner, if I look at the twitch in the mirror, it is on my LEFT side. Is this a good sign?

I will keep a close eye on my body odor. I figure that I should begin decomposing pretty quickly and stinking up the joint if in fact I am dead. Good advice!

So...

When was the last time you were climbing the sweet sandstone of the red river gorge? It could be that your just going through some kind of withdrawls. An ale-8 with some good bourbon over ice and Miguels after a sunny day of climbing might do the trick.

Or, the NA and K stuff might be a good idea, maybe a really good sports drink.

DR Braun,
I am a tooth grinder, who has (not often, well maybe more than I'd like, oops, it just kicked in) a twitch over the LEFT eye:
what now?

auspicious and inauspicious can mean just about anything from something very minor to something major and everthing in between.

Use your intuition crimpie, as you if you don't already.

A twitch could be serious. I saw a movie recently where a girl was twitching and a big ugly wormlike creature popped through the skin and chewed up a roomful of people.

Nothing a good romp in the hay couldn't cure. And if not, then at least you had a good romp in the hay!

And, Wes -- no one knows what the fuuuck an Ale-8 is except for us rednecks. They still won't allow that swill to be sold to anyone but briars and hilljacks.

Damn. The vision of Crimpie drinking lots of wine, in a hot tub, slippery, checking her breast, has made ME start twitching. But somehow, I don't think the cure is good for the gander.

Ed, I am not a big fan of the ale-8, only drink with some good bourbon. Which, btw, is one of the best mixed drinks out there. Good stuff!

Ok Crimpie-
Make sure you are not still loading the muscle.

Hydrate, wine is a diurretic, it causes you to lose fluid, so if you think the relaxation of the wine works you have to drink enough water to compensate, you will not be able to stay in the hot tub long.

Calcium helps frequent cramps, not sure about spasims.

De-stress, take a few days off climbing.

Take 50 mg potassium, or eat 8 bananas : )

No doubt get off the latte expresso starbucks, diet coke, caffeine juice, and anything like it.

Manipulation might help, so if you can get a massage, go for it.

i had this happen to my left tricep about two months ago.
the twiching lasted about two weeks and was driving me batty.
at the time i had a electronic muscle stimulator at home so i attached EMS (two patches)
to the muscle and zapped it for about ten minutes at half throttle. my wife laughed when she saw what i was doing but low and behold the twitching was completelty gone the next day.
coincidence or pure magic? who cares, it worked!
do you have a PT or cyro office you can visit?
