GDavis: your age minus 220 = max HR
I hope to avoid that particular scenario in training and in life. A negative pulse is not something for the faint of heart.

Now there's a great old insult you just don't hear these days!

You look beautiful honey, don't describe yourself as overweight... We all have our ups and downs... I'm currently a little "up" as well, but hey.. you are beautiful and you love and live life, right? What more can you want? Grab one of these supertaco schmucks and go climbing! You'll be fit in no time with the right partner! (And yes, i called you all schmucks)

Michelle, looks like you're down at sea level. You look great, get up in the mountains and get a little climbing in and you'll look even better!

hey Michelle - great thread, you rock!
I always thought self improvement was about acceptance and compassion. Then realized the one thing I needed to accept, and have compassion for the most was...me.
I think you are awesome for starting this thread, as I have had a struggle accepting my body, and the way i look, too. So, maybe you've "broken the ice" and started something great here.
Anyway, best wishes always.

Michelle - Glad to see that you are beating that depression. If you get out to Facelift, I'll gladly tie in with you for some 5 easy. If I was in the Bay Area, I could climb with you sooner, but living behind the Orange Curtain has its constraints.

Locker... you were at that show? I was there too! It was great seeing all those McDonald's models trying to fit into sample sizes. Man, drop the fork once in a while.

Yay, Michelle chases off the haters who clearly have "issues" with women (glad yet another woman stands up for herself with them!)
Have fun climbing, hope to see you on the rock!

Rock on Army. Get out there and do it!
Pain is just weakness leaving the body.
Recognize the HEALTH factor of being OVERWEIGHT and get HEALTHIER by LOSING it...
You'll look and FEEL much better...
Or....you could get on the Locker glue sniffing weight loss program.

Hey Michelle, thanks for your post-I think it's awesome that your going to get back out there after your army service (and thank you). Sounds like you have a lot of fine offers for some 5. easies, so you should be able to drop a few lbs without even trying (plus, I don't think you look like you have too much to lose anyway-a couple months of outings, you'll be good to go!). The beauty of climbing is it's the best weight loss program out there-it's so fun it doesn't feel like work and you don't dread it! If I was out there, I'd go climb with you. Have fun with meeting your goals, or just having good times! If in AZ ever, come climb with me :)
-Catherine.

hmm, looks like I'm going to the Facelift!
locker, uhm. you just keep on keepin' on bro.
Thanks for all the support. I've been very insecure for a long time and I was rabid about staying fit by being physical. I'm learning to accept the new, less athletic bod and thats a tough thing. I actually started gaining weight in the army. MRE's and chow hall food are super high in calories.
anyways, thanks for all the offers. after the 1st I'll be out there bugging you guys!

I was climbing with a young lady at Joshua Tree last winter who had a similar body type to Michelle as pictured earlier.
She was sending 5.10b climbs left and right. Left me in the dust.
Ladies need to focus on strength and physical goals. Quit worrying about weight.
