What's your point about Gaza Fats? Or are you just trying to get a rise?

Personally I am fairly bored with the CaliCentric wankers who do not realize that Yosemite or JT aren't the center of the climbing universe.
Oh and Boulder ain't? Come on dude...
I ain't a big fan of most californians either, tourons that is....the climbers are alright.
I think 'RADans are just on a higher level then the rest, or so it seems.

Why, you might ask, would I slag on California?
Well for one think there is a palpable air of delusional superiority that oozes from many Cali climbers.
My first few visit to climb in Cali in the 70s were an eye opener. Everywhere I went locals were trying to sand bag me and see me fail. Too bad i was already a seasoned and hardened Black Canyon first ascensionist. Instead of failing I plucked classic FAs and coveted 2nd ascents. They finally grudgingly accepted the kid from Colorado. We in Gunnison never tried to sandbag visitors. We sincerely wanted to see them succeed.

Now you have gym pussies calling themselves climbers, bolted cracks, stupor topos, prechalked routes.
CLIMBING DIED DECADES AGO!!!

This is exactly why I made the Cali reference. You west coasters are more concerned with defending your state then you are about foolish noobs causing unnecessary drama.
You all have done a fine job of proving my ulterior point. Thanx.

Oh come on John that is not true. I do not "hate on California".
Actually I should of said gym rats stay home.
But then all the indoor "experts" would be slagging on me for my arrogance.
What about the merits of experience and self reliance?

Um, perhaps you meant "ultimate?" Ulterior is a word usually associated with motive.
For example, I had an ulterior motive when several years ago I put up a sign on the bulletin board at Hidden Valley Campground which said:
COLORADO = FRANCE OF THE USA!
Then I sat down at a discreet distance and spent quite a while watching people get upset. Presumably Coloradans and French. But no one took it down.

Almost all of the real a-holes here in California are originally from out-of-state anyway, so I don't give a damn if you people want to hate on CA.

Now Philo, I think we're all part of the same breed. Witness here, a Coloradoan moved to Cali., and then a Californian moved to Colorado, seem like kindred spirits to me.

Sometimes, guys, you have to let yourselves not be offended by things.
There are a lot of newbs here, at least in SoCal. I would argue at a much higher ratio than in CO. That goes for the whole left coast. But I don't care so much what they do, it doesn't affect me. At least they are getting out and having fun outdoors instead of stewing in a health club, and it helps teach people conservation/appreciation for the wilderness.
JT and Yos are overrated... I know I'm there all the time :) fun climbing, though, but perhaps overhyped?
I prefer Cali because of the weather and solid rock. Can't pass up the high sierra. Big mountains, clean cracks, impeccable weather... thats why I like it here.
the Gym scene is just a necessary evil, but hey. Go to Idyllwild on a weekday (or Suicide... ANY day) and have yourself a lonesome day of climbing :)
