I predict Cadel Evans will be second!

Radioshack will be riding for Horner until he cracks. It'll be interesting to see how it goes.

I got my Honda serviced at Leipheimer's old man's shop in Butte BITD. The old man had a dog named Astro that had irritable bowel syndrome. Left little piles all over the parking lot.

In other news, 40 cyclists have started the 2011 "Tour de Afghanistan", a 500+ km stage race to qualify for that country's national team. Obstacles include mountains, heat, desert, IEDs, Taliban guerilla attacks, and suicide bombers. The race ends on June 27th, and the winners get to compete in the South Asian Games later this summer.

It is the Tour de effing France, anything can happen, bonk, choke, crash, bust.
For you all who follow road racing, try this.
Every year (for years) I have a contest with myself to predict the outcome of the TdF.
I try to pick
1. The winner- one point
2. The podium- three points
3. green jersey- one point
4. white jersey- one point
5. polka dot jersey- one point
6. team winner- one point
7. the winners of 10 stages (not specific stages)- one point each = ten points
8. who will be disqualified for drugs- one point
9. best place American- one point
20 points total.
All predictions must be made before the tour starts and no changes.
Also you can't pick one rider more than once for the ten stages, i.e. you can't put Cavendish down 4 times.
It is harder than it sounds, even for someone who REALLY (a true Tifosi, such as myself) follows the sport.
Try it.
edit: Add winners of 5 specific stages for 25 total, HARD.

Hey MMCC, I looked at the records (not complete) and my best was 9 pts.
I did pick Ricco in '08 for busted! Good pull. As well as Christian V V for best Yankee.
Some things are pretty easy....Virenque for polka dot, Abdujaparov or Cipollini for a sprint, Jalabert for a win, Armstrong for podium.
I have changed the rules a couple times, some years I have also picked winners of 5 specific stages. Got Cancellara for a prologue, easy one.
I am not throwing a gauntlet or anything. It is just something that is fun for me. It adds a little to the spectating.

Andy schleck doesn't seem to be in top form this year. Unless he is bluffing.
Contador will make the podium(and may win). Basso might make the podium.

Anyone have a fantasy tdf team? http://velogames.com/
Might be cool to have a supertaco mini-league.
Contador looked like he wasn't even trying in the Giro. Would love to see his take all 3 grand tours. Maybe Schleck was bluffing in the Suisse but he sure didn't look like he could contend with Contador. Evans - the most boring rider on earth? Wiggins is a smart rider but I just don't think he's enough of a climber to challenge for 1st, but the podium certainly.

Drugs or no drugs, pro cyclists are BAD ASS MOFOS. I WILL be watching. Contador without a doubt. Andy will win a mountain stage. Cav will be denied the green jersey yet again.

Cav for green. they are changing the sprints this year. there will be less intermediate sprints points so winning stages will have more importance. this is because Cav has won 15 stages in 3 years yet no green jersey.
